2011 ADVENTURE - PERU, CUSCO - PART 3
After spending a few days in Lima we travelled to Cusco. The experience was unforgettable. The altitude (over 11,000 feet above sea level), however, was a bit of a problem. THE END OF THE WORLD? ON SATURDAY?
In case you have been too busy (like us) to hear about the latest prediction of the end of the world on May 21, 2011 (Saturday) here it is: Harold Camping has predicted this will occur "like a thief in the night".

Why would the world end on a Saturday and not on a Monday? Very puzzling!
At Mezzanotte we have prepared ourselves with a nice supply of the fabulous FIN DEL MUNDO (translated: End of the World) blend from Patagonia Argentina. But the wine producers did not intend their label to mean the "end of the world" (as in the prediction) but as the region of Argentina closest to the Antarctic Circle (and, therefore, their definition of "end of the world").
But regardless, I thought this was a very appropriate wine for the occasion so this weekend (only) we are giving it away at $52/bottle.

PASTA ABBONDANZA ON THURSDAY!
In our quest for new and fun things to do at Mezzanotte we have come up with the idea of doing kind of a pasta feast on Thursday night.
The Italian word ABBONDANZA means "abundance" in English and we thought a very appropriate word to describe what we will be doing.
On Thursday night (5:00 to 9:00 PM) you can arrive by yourself or with your entire family and we will feed you pasta specials until you say "enough". And the pasta specials will not be just any plain pasta dishes; they will be prepared with the same care and with the same quality ingredients that we use for all of our dishes. The only requirement is that your entire party orders the Pasta Abbondanza. Upon arrival please let your server know if there is anything you would not want to be served (shellfish, walnuts, calamari, cheeses, etc) and we will take it from there.
Our introductory price is $19/person. Please come and try it and let us know what you think. Maybe we will make it an every Thursday event! |
ENTERTAINMENT THIS WEEKEND
We have a great program of live entertainment lined up for this weekend. Some of you are already fans Karenna Lee. She has been delighting us for a few years now. She will be singing tonight Friday from 7:00 to 10:00 PM.
Tomorrow Saturday we have another appearance of Lisa Whitley. As some of you know she was the winner of the "Gimme the Mike" TV contest in 2004. Here is a clip of her performance in the 2004 MDA Telethon:

DINING IN OUR COURTYARD
Weather permitting we will be serving dinner in our courtyard. We only have two tables there but they will be setup for a nice dinner. Good food, good wines, good company - what else can you ask for? |
