NEW WINES THIS WEEK
I am really having a great time choosing new wines for our menu. Between December of 2005 (when we opened) and December of 2010 we had been fully focused on Italian wines. During that time we built our wine list to include fantastic Italian wines in all price ranges. But this year we decided to expand and the expansion started! Over the past few weeks I have been selecting new wines from Argentina, Spain and California. More recently my focus shifted over to Napa Valley cabs. And this week the focus shifted to Merlots (with another cab and a pinot noir included). Over the next several weeks I am planning to expand the focus to include a nice variety of California and Oregon Pinot Noirs, some fantastic Spanish wines and, of course, French wines. So please stay tuned as our wine list evolves. Please click on the link below to see our specials of this week which include food and wines: Hope you get a chance to visit us this weekend! |
WE ARE THE TOP "NEIGHBORHOOD GEM" RESTAURANT IN OPENTABLE.COM
We joined Open Table just this past November to accept online reservations. In this short period of time we have made it to the top of Open Table's "Neighborhood Gem" category as voted by Open Table users. Please keep sending your good comments to Open Table and other sites such as www.yelp.com, www.urbanspoon.com and www.citysearch.com. We REALLY appreciate all your support. |
OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANTS
Many of you ask us what restaurants we have visited recently and which ones we would recommend. As restaurateurs, cooks, and wine people, we have become very demanding and critical when we go to restaurants. So, unfortunately, we only find a few gems in our rare escapades around town. But I thought you would like to know which are those gems so I started a section last week for that purpose. Of course I will not write about our bad experiences - I will only write about the good ones!
This week I will highlight LATIN BITES. This is a restaurant I am finally proud to call Peruvian. Even though it is labeled as a "Latin American Cuisine" restaurant, it is here where you can get real Peruvian dishes such as Ceviche (several types), Lomo Saltado, Seco de Cordero, Causitas, and many others. Their appetizers are served Tapa style (which we like so much) so that you can enjoy and share several different flavors with friends. Here is a picture of what our party of 6 ordered as starters:
And here we are, Adriana and I, with Executive Chef and compatriot Roberto Castre in Latin Bite's kitchen:
Latin Bites is located in downtown so it is a good 45 minutes drive - but it is well worth it. The restaurant is small so make sure you make reservations in advance.
Cheers! |
