OUR COMMUNITY FOCUS
Last week I introduced our new community and charity focused program.  During November we will be offering a 4 course prix-fixe menu for $35 and we will be contributing $5 to Shield Bearer.

Who/what is Shield Bearer? They are as much a movement as a service organization. They are a group of people dedicated to a vision of healthy relationships, strong families and healthy parent-child relationships. Shield Bearer offers individual, adolescent, couples/family and group counseling in critical areas such as grief recovery, abuse, addictions, peer relationships, family conflict, parenting issues, anger management, etc. Shield Bearer is an active partner with community based organizations, hospitals, universities, schools and churches.

As a nonprofit organization, Shield Bearer depends on donations and volunteers.

How can you help? You can become a donor and/or become involved as a volunteer. This month (November) you can help by just ordering our Prix-Fixe menu. We will be very grateful for that.

ARE YOU A BEER DRINKER?

Last week we introduced a fantastic new beer (Inedit by Estrella). This week we are introducing our new Beer Menu. In addition to the usual suspects (Bud Lite, Miller Lite, etc.) here is our exciting beer menu:

INEDIT ESTRELLA, Barcelona, Spain - $19 (750 ml)

Unique coupage of barley malt and wheat, flavored with coriander, orange peel and liquorice. This beer is the first specifically created to accompany food. Created by the sommelier team at El Bulli (rated #1 restaurant in the world).

PERONI NASTRO AZZURRO, Italy - $5

The brewery's premium pale lager beer. Alcohol content is 5.1%

BIRRA MORETTI, Italy -  $5

Alcohol content of this premium lager is 4.6%, a percentage that makes it ideal for any time of day.

BIRRA MORETTI LA ROSSA, Italy - $5

This double malt beer is produced using 100% high quality barley malt. Full, caramelized malt flavor and an intense aroma of roasted malt. 7.2%

CUZQUEÑA, Cuzco, Perú - $5

100% malt lager (5%). Possibly the best South American beer.

GUINESS EXTRA STOUT, Dublin, Ireland - $6

A complex beer full of character, this beer is descended from the definitive West India Porter known as Extra Superior Porter. Unmistakable deep-dark color, crisp hint of roasted barley, fresh breeze of hops.

SHINER BLACK, Shiner, TX - $5

Bohemian Black Lager, crafted according to exacting old-world standards with imported Czech Saaz, Styrians Hops and selected roasted malts. The darkest beer Shiner makes.

WHAT AM I UP TO AT MEZZANOTTE?
Well... I used to loose my sleep over the stress of running two restaurants. It was not rare for me to get out of bed at 2, 3 or 4 AM and walk around the living room and the kitchen just thinking about all the problems of the day.

Things have changed quite a bit since the sale of Capriccio. I now wake up still at 2, 3 or 4 AM and still go to my living room and kitchen. But the feeling is totally different: I am now very excited! I only think about new things to do. New items to bring, new programs to develop, new ingredients, new presentations, etc., etc.

Last week we brought a new Olives Plate, along with an Italian Cheeses Plate and an Italian Cold Cuts plate. This week we are introducing our new Beer Menu and introducing three fantastic new wines from Argentina: a Sauvignon Blanc by Diego Murillo, a Meritage by Don Tiburcio, and a Cabernet Sauvignon by Fincas La Linda. Additionally we are introducing a new Merlot and a new Syrah from California, and a world class Super Tuscan: the Antinori Tignanello.

Of course, it doesn't end there - this is just the beginning. I am spending time in the kitchen reviewing all of our recipes and coming up with ideas for new dishes. I am very busy designing our upcoming menu for the November 16 Wine Dinner. All dishes will be brand new and some of them may make it into the permanent menu.

We are also working on hiring new team members (if you know anybody interested, please send them our way). We are currently looking for hostesses and servers.

We are also busy on the marketing side. and coming up with new strategies to improve our visibility.  We just signed up with Open Table and will be implementing the system in the next couple of weeks.

I will keep you posted with new developments. Please stay tuned!
TAPAS MADNESS NIGHTS AT MEZZANOTTE

We just expanded our Tapas night to include Wednesdays so you have more flexibility to try some great food at fantastic prices. Our small dishes (Tapas) are all priced at $5 on Monday and Wednesday nights as well as our by-the-glass wines. The day before yesterday was our first "Tapas Madness Wednesday" and it was very well received. We had great attendance and great feedback. Please try it next Wednesday (I recommend reservations as it can become really busy).
