WINE MAKER DINNER AT MEZZANOTTE
Our good friend Andrea Cragnotti of the Corte Alla Flora winery in Tuscany will be with us again this coming Tuesday October 5th at 7 PM for dinner. We will have a chance to try his new white wine and taste his wonderful reds (among them the fantastic Vino Nobile de Montepulciano and its reserve version, and his amazing Super Tuscan).
Our traveling group had the chance to visit his winery last September in Montepulciano (Tuscany) and we had a fantastic time. Here he is in his last visit to Mezzanotte (he is the tanned Italian looking one on the right):

MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY EVENT LAST NIGHT
We had the pleasure of participating last night in the Taste of Tejas event in benefit of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The event was held at the Houston National Golf Club (Stone Gate) near our neighborhood in northwest Houston. The master of ceremony was Michael Garfield (The High-Tech Texan) and several local personalities were in attendance.
Both restaurants participated bringing 3 dishes: our Portobello Perigourdine from Mezzanotte, along with a Salmon Carpaccio from Capriccio and Tiramisu for dessert. A total of 13 restaurants participated (among them Polo Signature, Ruggles, Post Oak Grill, Fleming's Steakhouse, etc.) making this a great culinary event. We were very happy to contribute our time and food to such a great cause.

FEATURED WINE OF THE WEEK
Our featured wine of the week (at Mezzanotte AND Capriccio) continues to be the Intipalka Tannat.

You've probably never heard of the Tannat grape before. Tannat is originally from south west France (the Madiran AOC) but was exported to Latin America in the 1870's.  It is today considered the "national" grape of Uruguay.

This Peruvian wine (100% Tannat) is outstanding: presents a deep red color and, on the nose, brings red and black fruit aromas along with cherries and strawberries. Quite chalky aromas along with some tobacco. Very complex. On the mouth it has ripe and rounded tannins, well balanced with fruity aftertaste. Full bodied and long. Very tasty. Very, very good with food; specially meats and red sauce dishes.

Glass - $7
Bottle - $28 (special price this week is $24)
DO NOT LET THIS CHILD INVADE YOUR TABLE

Our son Diego is developing networking skills at an early age so we are cutting his hours of training at Mezzanotte (we are concerned with him interrupting our guests' meals). Here he is last Wednesday when he invited himself to dinner with Mac and Cathy Seheult. Please, if you recognize him near your table don't make eye contact or you may be stuck with him for a while!
