A WEEK FROM HELL!
I am sorry I started my newsletter with this heading but it has been a real bad week for us (mini-disasters at both restaurants). But I won't get into the details of everything. I just want to say that I am very grateful for all the good things that also happened during that period: we had a great mini-wine tasting on Tuesday, a fantastic 2 year celebration on the previous Friday (and thank you to all of you that came to celebrate with us!), a great corporate party we hosted also on Tuesday, and for fantastic business on Wednesday and Thursday. So, all in all, I am actually very grateful for all the good things that happened and that virtually erased the tremendous challenges we faced.
So, whenever you have a bad week (or a bad day) please focus on all the good things that you have to be grateful for. I promise you it will make you feel better (even if the problems don't go away).
Cheers!
Gerry
FATHER'S DAY - CLOSED
Sorry but we will be closed for Father's Day at both restaurants. If every father is like me then there is no reason to open. I just want to stay home and relax. We will probably be by the pool having some good wine and throwing some good stuff on the grill.
Happy father's day!
MINI WINE TASTING AT MEZZANOTTE NEXT TUESDAY
We will be having our monthly mini-wine tasting at Mezzanotte next Tuesday. This one is again in partnership with our friend and neighbor Sara of the Urban Vine shop. Sara will be bringing in some great wines, including a Torrontes from Argentina, a beautiful Riesling, a couple of great reds, and a sauvignon blanc. Of course every wine will be paired with great food. Hope to see you then!
IT IS SUMMER - PROSECCO TIME!
Actually, it doesn't have to be summer to enjoy a nice Italian prosecco. But it is a good excuse, nevertheless.
I have located a fantastic Prosecco that comes in small bottles of 178 ml (or a little more than a glass). So now you don't have to buy an entire bottle but just have a glass as an aperitif before dinner (or with dessert after dinner).
If you are not familiar with Prosecco: it is basically a champagne made with Italian Prosecco grapes. It cannot be called champagne for two reasons:
  • The main one: it is not made in the French region of Champagne so, legally, it cannot be called such.
  • The second fermentation (where the bubbles develop) is done in large tanks and then bottled (this is called the "Charmat" method). Champagne, on the other hand, undergoes second fermentation in the bottle (and this is called the "Champanoise" method).
But, all in all, Prosecco is a fantastic competitor to Champagne (and it is preferred by Italians, of course).
So try a little Prosecco this weekend. We have it at both, Mezzanotte and Capriccio and it goes for $9 the bottle.
