Mini Wine Tasting
BACK FROM ARGENTINA - PART 4
I cant believe that it has already been a month since we went to Argentina! Well, this is my last report on this wonderful trip. On our last day in Mendoza we visited more wineries and did more sightseeing (and wine drinking and eating, of course).  Here are pictures of our last days:

The place where we stayed at was wonderful. It is a big house with lots of rustic details (stone walls, exposed wood beams, etc.) but with all modern amenities - one big problem, however, was that the wireless signal couldn't travel across the stone walls so we would end up in the main sitting area with our laptops trying to keep in touch with the real world. I am sorry I didn't take a good picture of the seating area as it was a very inviting space with a large (lit) fireplace and with background modern Argentinean music. The staff was wonderful and made you think that you were at home. They were always very attentive at getting anything you needed.
Our morning breakfast was occasionally (always?) accompanied with Champagne thanks to our friend Carolyn who is addicted to it. After breakfast we would be picked up by our driver Gabriel who was at our disposal all day.
On the last night in Mendoza we went for dinner to Francis Mallmann's restaurant. Here all the food is cooked either in an oven or on a grill (wood burning, of course). One of our entrees was called "Colossal Steak" and it was truly colossal!
The restaurant is housed inside the Escorihuela winery and some people travel to Mendoza just to eat at this restaurant. For this event we brought our own bottles of wine: the Henry Lagarde Gran Guarda Henry No 1 - we fell in love with it.
After that we flew back to Buenos Aires for our last couple of days in Argentina. In that time we continued sightseeing and trying restaurants.
This trip was fantastic. Of course it is very different from Tuscany (where we went last September) but is well worth the trip. We may do it again so stay tuned.
Cheers,
Gerry
I WILL TEXT MESSAGE YOU!
Yes, I will do that.  I am planning a new program using instant text messaging to your phone so that I can tell you last minute happenings. What I will text message I will not publish anywhere else. For example, I may taste a fantastic wine in the morning and by the evening I receive a case. I would send a text message with a very special offer of (let's say) half price so that you can give me your opinion on the wine. Or I could decide that it is a great day for a great lunch and I would text you that our lunch special for the day is a prix - fixe menu of $10.
Or we could do something crazy/different like a beer/food pairing on a Wednesday night.
In a nutshell, the text messages would carry very special event information that I would not publish anywhere else.
Interested? If so please send me your cell phone number to my email address: gsarmiento@kknscorp.com so that I can add it to my database. AND... I promise that I will protect your number like I protect your email addresses (I don't give them to ANYONE!)
Hope you want to try this. And, of course, you can always opt out of the program.
Cheers!
Gerry
LAST TUESDAY'S MINI WINE TASTING AT CAPRICCIO

Our second mini-wine tasting at Capriccio was a great success last Tuesday. We all had the chance to try 5 great wines paired with 5 mini-tapas. At $15/person this was a real bargain to try something new and have fun in a very relaxed setting. We all gathered at the bar and some of us stayed much later than expected (and on a Tuesday night!)

I hope you come to the next one in June. Here are a couple of pictures of the night:
