I am writing this newsletter from Mendoza, Argentina. Unfortunately we are winding down and getting ready to go back home. We arrived last Friday to Buenos Aires and spent 4 wonderful days. Then we flew to Mendoza where we still are until tomorrow.
Here is the gang arriving in Buenos Aires:
And here is the gang doing what we do best:
A little street tango:
I have a very slow Internet connection in our wonderful 10 room hotel in Mendoza so I will wait until back at home to give you a full report of the trip. But, in summary, it has been a wonderful experience - lots of great wine, lots of great food and lots of great moments with friends.
Adriana will be back at Mezzanotte this weekend.
Cheers from Argentina!! we are very happy here but we miss our home and our friends back at home.

This win e is made from several red grapes, primarily Merlot and Franconia, a little known grape that adds body and character to the blend. It is hearty, smooth, balanced and very drinkable. The price quality ratio for this wine is off the scale . It is an unbelievable value.
BISO BIANCO -Bottle $28, Glass $7
This wine is made from several white grapes, primarily Pinot Bianco, Tocai , and Sauvignon. Its taste is smooth and full of character . Ideally , it should be served with hors-d'oeuvres, soups, stewed meat s , and fish dishes.
-----
These wonderful Vini da Tavola (table wines) are from the Italian region of Veneto. The label of the wines say: "Il Vino del Lunedi", which means "Monday's Wine". These are the wines that the producer (Giovanni Biso) drinks at home during the week at the family table. So I thought of offering this wine on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (only) at the ridiculous price of $15/bottle and $4/glass.
Hope you can enjoy them while the supply lasts. |
CAPRICCIO - WINE FLIGHTS
Celebrate the diversity of wine with our "Flights." Wine flights consist of four, three ounce tastes... enough wine to compare, contrast, experience and explore. Enjoy!
RED WORLD WINE FLIGHT - $14
Mencia Cuatro Pasos - Bierzo , Spain
100% Mencia grape from the increasingly fashionable Bierzo region. At times linked to Pinot Noir or Cabernet Franc, the origins of the Mencia varietal are still a mistery. This is a fine, old vine Menca from top winemaker Martin Sarmiento. It's subtle with an aromatic red berry nose and a powerful palate showing flavors of red cherry and redcurrant fruits. It finishes off with flavors of toasty oak and hints of vanilla.
Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Dario D'Angelo - Abruzzo , Italy
Dark ruby red with purple highlights this wine is rich and full bodied with balanced acidity. The texture is silky on the palate with aromas of black fruits, raspberries and cherries. Great structure and a real depth of flavor.
Malbec Uma Coleccin - Mendoza , Argentina
The color is gem-like with inky depth. Generous in the nose with dark cherry, blackberry, chocolate, a hint of smokiness, and pepper. Dark currant, black cherry, ripe plum, and dark jammy strawberries. The fruit flavors continue as the wine washes over the mouth with velvety cedar and rich tobacco. The enduring finish of earthy, chewy, tannic flavors completes this excellent wine's seduction.
Tempranillo Vega Sindoa - Navarra, Spain
Dark ruby. Redcurrant, cherry, dried flowers and a note of pepper on the nose. Suave, supple and sweet, with a core of peppery spices giving energy and cut to the sweet red fruit flavors. No obvious tannins to get in the way of the juicy fruit, which lingers nicely on the velvety finish. |
