MONDAY'S WINE SPECIAL AT MEZZANOTTE
I have come across a couple of nice Vino da Tavola (table wine) from the Italian region of Veneto. One is white and is a lovely blend of Pinot Bianco, Tocai and Sauvignon. The other is red and is a blend of, primarily, Merlot and Franconia (a little known grape). The label of this wine says: "Il Vino del Lunedi", which means "Monday's Wine".
This is the wine that the producer (Giovanni Biso) drinks at home during the week at the family table. So I thought of offering this wine on Mondays (only) at the ridiculous price of $15/bottle.
Hope you come on Mondays to enjoy a nice pasta or meat dish with a nice bottle of the Biso Rosso or any of our seafood dishes with a nice bottle of the Biso Bianco.
Cheers!
TAX SEASON IS OVER!
Well...it is over! For better or worse we don't have to think about it for another year (unless you filed an extension!).
On our side this was the very first time in a long, long time that we had to pay taxes instead of receiving a refund.  So it was not a happy time! But some good wine mitigated the ordeal. Believe me, it works!
So come to Mezzanotte or Capriccio and celebrate with us. We will be serving a glass of champagne on the house! Hope to see you.
LET'S TALK ABOUT CHIANTI (PART 2)
Last week I talked about Chianti wines and how it has changed in the last few decades (I used to drink it in college 30 years ago when it came in a basket-bottle!).
I must re-emphasize that Chianti is a red wine, strong and bold. Typical flavors in a Chianti include cherry, plum,  strawberry, spice, almonds, tobacco, vanilla and coffee.
But beyond the wine...the region itself:

The Chianti area in Tuscany is one of the most beautiful in the whole region, as well as the most well-known and appreciated by visitors from across the world.

The borders of the Chianti region are not clearly defined but in general it extends over the provinces of Florence and Siena, covering all of the area between the two cities and extending to the east toward the Valdarno and to the west to the Val d'Elsa. The Chianti wine area extends further beyond the two cities, all around Florence and even toward Arezzo, Pistoia and Montepulciano.

Chianti

You'll often find references to the "Florentine Chianti" and the "Sienese Chianti" to define the areas closest to one or the other city, but these often refer to a wine's origin within the Chianti region.

Chianti offers a unique landscape, with green, gentle hills covered with wide fields of vineyards and olive groves, small stone villages, characteristic parishes and countryside homes in stone.

The Chianti landscapes are just breathtaking and no photograph can convey the emotion of actually being there. We were just very lucky to be there last September and hope you can go too. its an experience you will never forget!

Cheers!
CHECK OUT OUR WEEKLY SPECIALS
We are doing a lot of new things at both restaurants so keep an eye open for announcements. We have recently been experimenting with Prix-Fixe Menus (Fixed Price Menus) which have been very well received. To this we added the pairing of the food with recommended wines. This was also very well received.

More recently we started experimenting with "Wine Flights" where we serve 4 small pours of different wines giving you a chance to try different grapes and flavors and compare and contrast them. We also started conducting "Mini-Wine Tasting" events which proved to be a lot of fun and have been very well received.

Please ask your server if we are doing anything special at the moment. And please feel free to send your suggestions and comments - I would really appreciate it!
