OUR NEW RESTAURANT: CAPRICCIO
Well... it is not really a "new" restaurant. It is our "old" Capriccio Tapas transformed into Capriccio Ristorante.
We opened our doors back in July of 2008 and the idea was to offer a combination of Spaniard and Italian cuisines. A large part of our menu was comprised of Tapas (small plates) with a nice selection of pizzas and a few pastas. But then we heard a lot of requests for "real main courses".  So we naturally evolved into phasing out the few pastas we had and focus on main courses (all from Spain).
But then we started receiving lots of requests for Italian food!! This whole thing was about to make us crazy.
Finally we decided to give it a test drive to a primarily Italian menu over the last two to three weeks of December. Guess what happened: people were really disappointed that our selection of tapas was drastically reduced and our Paella was gone!!

You can talk to your customers all you want, and you can get tons of opinions. But it isn't until you actually make changes that you find out what really works and what doesn't.

So here is what we learned over the last year and a half of operations:

  • Most of our customers didn't even know what Tapas were. But after trying the concept (basically ordering several small plates instead of the usual "appetizer and main course") most people became fans of them.
  • Most of those same customers also love Italian food (really LOVE it).
  • People love the flexibility of one day do Tapas and another day order a main course.
  • Everybody loves great value wine!

The above four bullets are a gross simplification of what we went through over the period since we opened Capriccio.  But it has become very clear in our minds that we will be a Tapas restaurant AND an Italian restaurant at the same time.

So...after this very long explanation I invite you to stop by and try our brand new menu. You can also see it by going to our website: Capriccio Ristorante
Hope to see you there soon!

NEW YEAR'S EVE AT MEZZANOTTE AND CAPRICCIO
We had a great time at both restaurants. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera to Capriccio (where I worked the bar) so I missed the opportunity to capture the evening.
Adriana was at Mezzanotte (working the bar also) but she didn't have a chance to take many pictures. Thankfully, our good friend Phil Christian (now named official photographer at Mezzanotte) took several pictures that I have uploaded for you to view. Please click on the following link:

It is hard to believe (at least for me) that we are well into 2010!
We wish you the very best and look forward to continue seeing you during the year.

HAPPY HOUR AT CAPRICCIO

Happy Hour

Yes...this year we started offering our Happy Two Hours at Capriccio (from 5 to 7 PM) Monday thru Friday. I am developing my skills as bartender so stop by to say hello and for a glass of nice wine or cocktail and/or food. Any items from the bar, the wine list or the menu are 20% off during the HAPPY TWO HOURS.
Cheers!

OUR FOCUS FOR 2010
This year we are going to focus on many of our old programs (wine dinners, wine classes, prix-fixe menus, etc.) but we will pay special attention to launching new programs and new ideas. Please stay tuned.
