HOW ABOUT ANCHOVIES?
Anchovies are probably one of my favorite ingredients. I love a good thin pizza with tomatoes (no sauce), mozzarella and anchovies (we make it at Capriccio, by the way). I also love the Penne Putanesca and, of course, a good Cesar Salad. They all have anchovies in one form or the other. Here is a nice article about them. I hope it helps in changing your mind (if you are on the "please hold the anchovies" camp):

NO MORE WI-FI AT COOFEE SHOPS?
Yes, the economy is not good but... disconnecting patrons from their Internet??
Of course there are arguments in favor and against the practice. Since I am not in the coffee shop business i don't know (or can't imagine) the pros and the cons. The only thing I know is that there are a couple of places that I frequent (when I am on the road) to get a sandwich and connect to check messages, etc. If they changed their Internet policy I would probably change my routine also and go elsewhere. Difficult decision to make as an operator.
Here is a very interesting article on the subject:

FEATURED WINES OF THE WEEK
FEATURE WINES AT MEZZANOTTE
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC - Dario D'Angelo Bottle 22 - Glass 6 Just and unbelievably outstanding value from the Abruzzo region (which deserves more recognition!). Fairly dark hue showing a little maturity. An oak-influenced nose, with smoky-nutty character on top of some earthy fruit. Lower acidity and mild sweeter tannins. This wine goes well with food as without it. If pairing with food, go with lamb and/or pasta with red sauce.
Nero D'Avola Sicilia IGT - Terramore
Bottle 36, Glass 9
100% Nero D'Avola grapes. R ed ruby color, with violet notes. Intense, penetrating nose, with notes of ripe red and black berry. In the mouth is powerful and round, well balanced by gentle tannins. Pleasant and harmonic aftertaste, fresh and slightly spicy. Pairs well pasta with red tomato and meat sauce, grilled and roasted meats. FEATURE WINES AT CAPRICCIO Tempranillo Rueda Red - Hermanos Lurton (Rueda, Spain) Bottle 28 - Glass 7 100% Tempranillo. At first, the intense garnet color of this wine of Tempranillo is impressive for a Spanish wine aged six months in barrel. The oak expresses itself through grilled and vanilla aromas. It is a wonderful round and velvety wine, with a sumptuous length and a delicate finish of oak and red fruit notes. A modern red with soft flowery, perfumed and a hint of mentholated notes with spicy and leather savory flavors.
Tempranillo - Ercavio Roble (Castilla - La Mancha, Spain)
Bottle 28 - Glass 7 100% Tempranillo. The color is deep red/purple and nearly opaque. The nose is reminiscent of chocolate covered black cherries with some smoky toast and wet rock. This wine has a distinctive texture of rich velvety tannins and a candy syrup feel and a gentle acidity. The flavors are quite fruit forward with abundant blueberry and raspberry with a layer of cocoa, flint and earth. There is a slight taste of oak, but it is the ripe, dark berries that linger on the very long finish. |
BIRTHDAY PARTY! August seems to be the birthday month. We have several birthdays to celebrate (ours and several friends'), so we decided to throw a party on Saturday August 29 at 9 PM at Capriccio. Come and join us to celebrate - we will have tapas and champagne... plus music. |
