4th OF JULY
Thank you very much to all of you that gave me feedback regarding whether we should open on the 4th of July or not. The overwhelming response (86%) was that we should not open (versus 14% that said yes). So we will take the advice and will stay home probably cooking something on the grill. |
LIVE ON RADIO - KTRH I will be on John Demers' "Delicious Mischief" radio show this Saturday (June 27) at noon. John is a well known culinary writer and food critic. His show airs every Saturday and is a lot of fun. You can tune in via the Internet:

NEW TAPAS AT CAPRICCIO!
We are actively working in adding new tapas to our menu. We have been very succesful in crafting an exciting menu but I think it needs more excitement. Here are the first three that we launched last week:
Morcilla Andaluza - 8 Perfectly grilled morcilla sausage accompanied with a pine nut, mango, apple and peach chutney. The perfect savory and sweet combination. Scallops Parmesan - 7 Absolutely delicious. Fresh scallops topped with parmesan cheese and butter are broiled to a delicate crust. A squeeze of lime tops this wonderful tapa. Mussles Chalaca - 7 Large New Zealand mussles are topped with a lime, onion, tomato and cilantro mix. Served chilled this is a perfect summer tapa. And, of course, our wine menu continues to evolve. |
FEATURED WINES AT MEZZANOTTE AND CAPRICCIO
This week we are bringing two very exciting wines from the US. One from California and the other from our own backyard, Lubbock, Texas! I trust that you will enjoy them:
Grenache Mourvedre - McPherson (Lubbock, Texas)
Bottle $32, Glass $8 Anybody who believes that good wine can't be made in Texas (including me) must try McPherson's wines. This one is a fantastic blend of 51% Grenache and 49% Mourvedre. The French Rhone varietal grapes have found a new home in West Texas! Grenache, one of the most widely grown wine grapes in the world, is blended with Mourvedre and other varietals to make the world famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape wine in southern Rhone (France). MacPherson Granache-Mourvedre brings these two together with a little Texas twist for a wine exhibiting the black cherry, raspberry, currants and smoky pepper typical of Rhone blends. The wine is soft and rich with a lovely, deep purple color. Very well crafted wine ideal to accompany a nice steak.
Merlot Estate Vineyards, Donati (San Benito County, California) Bottle $36, Glass $9 Wow! Another beautiful wine from the Donati family. This one is 91% Merlot with 9% Cabernet Sauvignon. Richly expressive in character, deeply fruity and solidly colored, this Merlot expresses exactly what this fine Bordeaux variety is all about. A robust wine for early to mid-term aging, Donati Merlot proves to be a satisfying accompaniment to grilled beef, braised meats (ossobuco, short ribs), lamb or most any red pasta entre. A must ry! |
