1st Week
Sept '08
The Boulevard Brewery in Kansas CityGood Afternoon

You cannot beat this weather, when fall came around here it came right away! Of course this weekend its going to heat back up, but what a nice breeze we've had for the last two days. We were almost persuaded to drop all the Pils & Lagers and move back in all the ales & stouts, but we can wait another couple of weeks.

Why is Boulevard on our email? Because next week we will host a Boulevard Beer Tasting! More details on our Tasting page!

James, John & Chris, opening bartenders from Ireland, update from young Mr Costello! I had a chance to speak with James this week as he helped me with some Irish translations - (Hard to remember a language I really never learned too well) The word from the crew, seven years on since we opened the Pub together, is that all are thriving but still miss the fun in Dallas. James has steady work now that he's a farmer - runs over 40 head of cattle by all accounts! John is still in the hotel business at the same property in Galway for 5 years, and Chris is out on walk about in Australia handling tillage on some of the large ranch farms there! James was asking for you all, and wanted to be sure if you were heading towards Galway that we give a call ahead to let him know! (I told him we were waiting for the dollar to stengthen up a little first...) Steve R. drops us a line every so often, he's been enjoying the Desert, riding his Hog and running a restaurant in Scottsdale! (Did I mention its been seven years since we opened doors (Aug '01))

We just received our re-supply of our popular brown The Original T-Shirts, available in almost all sizes again, along with our Ladies fitted t's in yellow, pink and a new navy blue! (Just in case you are planning early for the gift giving season and the giftee is in a paradise location like Scottsdale, Palm Springs or Malibu with year around summer weather!)

We had a tremenduous GAA day last Sunday with the hard fought battles between Cork & Kerry and Tyrone and Wexford, the end result was a disappointed Margaret G and a couple of elated McCanns. Make a date with your planner to come watch the All Ireland finals with the IAS on Sept. 21st - Minors throw in at 7:30 AM

Our Glenrothes Whiskey tasting was described as our best ever! A sold out event, we tasted through 6 separate and distinct expressions including a very special single cask that had aged for 28 years and was as dark as many of our rums! Keep an eye out for our next series, BenRiach in October and the return of Simon Brooking in November with Laphroaig and Ardmore.

So, a great week so far, read on to find out more about events this weekend and what we will be up to next week!

Cheers,

Marius - Chief Merchandiser and Shelf duster!

Small Batch Bourbon Dinner

Small Batch Bourbon Dinner on Sept. 11th
Jim Beam's family brought the small batch Bourbon whiskies to the market a number of years ago. These are handcrafted small batch whiskies that are aged up to 9 years. The one named Bookers is the only cask strength bourbon sold on the open market.

We are hosting a dinner program with the newest Brand Ambassador - apparently Virgil has decided to follow his dreams to another career - and we will offer a reception + 4 courses!

Visit the Tasting page for information and a link to the online Ticket sales. We are halfway to sold out so if you are bringing friends, ask them to decide and book quick to avoid challenges.

NEW BREWS AT THE PUB

 Franconia Dunkel Arrives

Dennis -Franconia Brewing Company's Proprietor!

What is a  Dunkel?

A German "Dunkel" (dark) brewed as a Lager with Two Row Malt, Munich Malt and some Roasted Malts. Spiced up with German Hops from the Hallertau and a German Lager Yeast gives this Brew a nice dunkel (dark) color and some Malt sweetness with a nice finish of balanced Hops and a little chocolaty tast for the finish.

This is Franconia's 3rd brew out on tap, brewed in McKinney and hand delivered by Dennis & Brewer-Side Kick Gavin!

There's also an Oktoberfest Tap started, so check with the bar each week and see which one is being poured, a new brand through end of the Marzen season!
