September 2010
|
Greetings! Welcome to Fall, and Happy Primary Day (don't forget to vote!). Most of my marketing work these days is corporate and nonprofit, but I still enjoy flexing my campaign muscles with political commentary (such as last week on WGBH, Boston's NPR station). Want to hear my day-after quarterbacking? Tune in at 1pm Eastern on Wednesday, Sept. 15 - you can stream it live. Give me a shout if you want to argue with my analysis or - even better! - want to expand your company's sales to mind-boggling proportions and build a world-beating brand.

The Death of the Press Conference
Who doesn't love a press conference? The lights, the cameras, the drama! But alas - these days, with tragic newsroom cuts, they've become a relic of the past. Learn the "do's" and "don'ts" of mastering media relations in a post-press-conference world with my recent blog post for MassINC, the nonpartisan think tank. Want your intel in video form? I also made a snappy five-minute YouTube video giving you the down low on how to leverage the demise of the press conference.
Every day on Twitter: marketing tips, podcast links, lions and tigers and bears. Oh my. |

Unstoppable Online Branding, Creating a Powerful Communication Strategy, and More
Yeah, the Internet is great - but can it actually help you increase sales? If you want to build your brand online, juice your profits, and avoid falling into the hopeless miasma of Twitter time-sink and the Facebook arms race, come to my "Unstoppable Online Branding" workshop on Friday, October 15. Check back at Somerville Local First's website for further details.
Want an in-depth look at how to build successful media relationships and communicate effectively with your target audience? Join me on November 16 for my half-day Boston workshop, Creating a Powerful Communication Strategy. You can register here. Finally, later this month, I'll be speaking to Museums of Boston, a network of marketing and PR leaders at the area's top institutions. If your organization or conference needs speakers on marketing, sales, or media relations, check out the Speaking Engagements page on my website, or drop me a line to see if we're a match.

The Work of 1000: Screening and Event
You've been waiting - and your chance is finally here! On Thursday, October 14 at 7pm, we're screening the documentary film I directed - Marion Stoddart: The Work of 1000 - at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline (just outside Boston). You'll get a look at the film before it hits the festival circuit, plus I'll be moderating a panel discussion on "The Future of Urban Environmentalism" with Marion Stoddart herself; Lisa Wong and Bill Flynn (current and former mayors of Fitchburg, MA, where the film was set); and environmental advocate Colin Durrant. Email to learn more and purchase tickets ($20).
