The big news here is that Clark Strategic Communications was named 2008 Small Business of the Year by the Somerville Chamber of Commerce, which was quite an honor. We're also very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with great clients on marketing and strategy consulting, as well as media training. Some of our new partners include: My other venture - Aspen Development Strategies, which handles community relations on development projects - is currently providing counsel on a major, environmentally-friendly energy project. |

This year, I provided election commentary in a variety of places, including a guest appearance on WGBH's Greater Boston with Emily Rooney (discussing the New Hampshire senate race) and an Election Night panel at Tufts University. More recently, I guest lectured at Emerson on public policy and spoke on a Harvard Kennedy School panel about "Media, Politics and Web 2.0" with Sewall Chan of the New York Times and my old Dean campaign colleague Nicco Mele. On April 4th, I'll be speaking at a conference held at my alma mater, Smith College. Believe it or not, it's for the Society of Women Engineers, though my topic is a little more liberal- artsy (helping the techie set with communication skills). I'll also be talking about my film project - see below for more details. And harkening back to my Harvard Divinity School days, I'll have an article on church marketing in Congregations magazine - look for it this summer! |

This semester, Clark Strategic Communications has been blessed with two hard-working interns, Ana Gabbidon and Johnna Marcus. Ana and Johnna are both seniors at Emerson College and have worked on projects including editorial board briefings, Internet strategy research, and more. Know of any entry- level jobs in diversity consulting (Ana) or healthcare and policy communication (Johnna)? Please email me and I'll let them know. Same goes if you know any students who'd be interested in an unpaid but scintillating part-time summer internship. |

After a few panic-inducing moments at the hands of a wayward tech store employee, one of my favorite innovations of late has been Carbonite - a service that, for $55 per year, automatically backs up your files. It's the best kind of insurance - and no, I don't work for them. |

The Film: We're making good progress on the documentary film I'm writing/directing, The Work of 1000 (about one woman's heroic quest to clean up the Nashua River). Please join us for a fundraiser for the project on Saturday, March 21 at 8pm at the Billiards Café, 39 Main St. in Ayer, featuring the rock/blues music of Mumblefish. A donation of $10 or more at the door would be much appreciated. Tragically, I can't be there (I'm out of state doing a media training for Democracy for America) but there will be awesome people to meet. And if you can't make it, either, you can still donate (tax-deductibly) here. The Cuddly Animals: As part of my work on the Board of Overseers for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, I'm helping to mobilize supporters in Somerville for an ordinance sponsored by Aldermen Bill Roche and Rebekah Gewirtz to ban the display of wild animals in circuses in the city. If you live in Somerville and would like to help, please email me, and thanks. |
