May 2007 Clark Strategic Communications Newsletter
Greetings!
We're just a few weeks away from the one-year anniversary of Clark Strategic Communications, the PR/marketing firm I launched last June. Amidst the frenzy of running a business, I want to make sure I stay in good touch with my friends and colleagues. The goal of this quarterly e-newsletter is to give you a quick update about the work I've been doing and some new developments.

I would also really love to hear back from you and find out what you're up to. And of course, if you know of any businesses, non-profits, or campaigns that need PR/marketing, branding, or strategic planning assistance, please send them my way!

The Professional

Just in our first year, our firm has had the opportunity to work with more than 20 great clients. A sampling of recent projects includes:

  • Securing media coverage for the Jane Goodall Institute's Roots & Shoots program, which helps kids engage with environmental and humanitarian causes.

  • Producing a YouTube promotional video for Emerson College and its Organizational & Political Communication Department.

  • Developing an e-campaign for the National Park Service's Rivers & Trails program.
  • Crafting a communications plan for EcoLogic Development Fund, a non-profit focused on Latin American environmental issues.
  • Helping Stand for Children win statewide coverage for a 2000 person Beacon Hill rally featuring Gov. Patrick.
  • Promoting Irish musician Paddy Saul's debut album.
  • And continuing our work with terrific clients such as MassEquality and Boston City Councilor Sam Yoon, Parents Helping Parents, Extra Mile Design, First Congregational Church-Somerville, Aviation Logistics LLP, and more.

Live & In Person!

I've had a variety of public speaking engagements over the past several months, from guest lectures at Suffolk University and Emerson College to addressing the Natick Democratic Town Committee. I also recently spoke to participants in the Initiative for Diversity in Civic Leadership, a program that helps train people of color to run for office.

If you'd like to come cheer me on (and pick up some PR tips), I'll be giving a free, public presentation on Thursday, June 14 from 12:00--1:30 p.m. at Third Sector New England (a Boston-based group that helps non-profits) called "Media Bootcamp for Non-Profits: 10 No-Cost Tactics to Win Coverage." The Civic

As some of you know, I'm serving as Vice-President of East Somerville Main Streets (ESMS), a non-profit focused on improving our neighborhood. Whether or not you live in East Somerville, this is a great way to get involved and make a difference. We would love your help, and we are in especial need of assistance from attorneys, CPAs or bookkeepers, realtors, business owners, architects or urban planners, artists, grant writers, and/or people with Spanish and Portuguese skills.

If you'd like to get involved--we have committees devoted to Promotion, Design, and Economic Development--please email me or our Executive Director Carrie Dancy at carrie@eastsomervillemainstreets.org. Thanks!
