January 2007 Clark Strategic Communications Newsletter
Greetings!
It's hard to believe it's a new year, and I've been running my own public relations business for nearly eight months. So far, we've been very fortunate and I'm glad to report business is going well. I want to make sure I stay in good touch with my friends and colleagues, so I started this newsletter, which I'll send approximately 4-6 times/year. I'll provide information about the work I've been doing and any new developments.

If you'd prefer not to be on this list, you can simply hit the "unsubscribe" button at the bottom. I hope to hear back from you, and learn about what you've been up to lately. And of course, if you know of any non-profits, campaigns, or businesses that need public relations, marketing, or branding assistance, please send them my way! Thanks and Happy New Year.

The Professional

This year, I've had the opportunity to work with a variety of terrific clients. Just a sampling of these projects includes:

Campaign media consulting for Andrea Silbert for Lieutenant Governor, Seth Yurdin for Providence City Council, and Boston City Councilor Sam Yoon

Helping non-profit education advocacy group Stand for Children create marketing materials, and generate media coverage around their state budget win

Developing a strategic communications plan and Internet outreach campaign for the National Park Service's Northeast Rivers & Trails program, and collaborating with the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy on a brand analysis project

Providing media outreach assistance to the Deval Patrick for Governor campaign and for the pro-gay marriage group MassEquality, in collaboration with Hattaway Communications

Performing media skills trainings across the country with Democracy for America

Teaching courses at Emerson College (Campaign Management, with former Congressman Peter Torkildsen) and Suffolk University (Media, Politics & Culture of the 1980s)

The Personal

It's official: After nearly eight years renting in the city, I bought a condo in East Somerville in late 2005.

I'm very pleased to have gotten involved in the community--Boston Magazine calls us "one of the hottest city neighborhoods," so it has to be true!-- and am serving as the Vice President of East Somerville Main Streets. ESMS is focused on improving the quality of the neighborhood through community-building, design and transportation improvements, and targeted business development. We're always looking for good volunteers, so please email me if you'd like to get involved.
