Registrations will be Accepted Until January 12, 2012
More than 70 elected officials have signed up to participate in this year's Newly Elected Officials Course which began on November 19, 2011 with the Opening Day Event at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center. In addition to Opening Day, the first program on Scope of Powers, Open Meetings and Open Records occurred on December 1, 2011 at Green Tree Municipal Center. The first full-day Saturday session was held on December 10th in the Cathedral of Learning on the University of Pittsburgh's campus, where participants spent the day focusing on various aspects of Municipal Budgeting and Finance. Registrations for the 2011-2012 Newly Elected Officials Course will be accepted until January 12, 2012. Please remember to continue to recommend the Newly Elected Officials Course to those who will be commencing or continuing their public service in January. Reorganization occurs on January 3, 2012. The Newly Elected Officials Course is the most comprehensive training for newly elected officials in the Commonwealth. Its completion represents a significant accomplishment and commitment to the voters. It also greatly reduces on the-job-training for local officials. In past years, the Newly Elected Officials Course has seen the knowledge of the former candidates improve by 69%.
