Friends of Junior Achievement:

Inspiring children to take on successful, passion-driven careers is one of the most rewarding things we can do. Thanks to your support during the 09/10 school year, we delivered 55,000 hours of Junior Achievement programming to nearly 11,000 students in 508 Brown County classrooms.

Our board members recently kicked off our "Calls For Kids Campaign" to raise funds to promote programming in the 10/11 school year. We've already raised $100,000 and are working to raise the remaining $141,000 needed to support 508 classrooms. If you or someone you know is interested in helping kids achieve their dreams -- either through volunteer time or donations -- please feel welcome to contact me.

Our office also has an immediate need to hire a Part-Time Program Manager. I appreciate your assistance in reaching out to those you know who might be interested in this position.

Thank you for your continued involvement with Junior Achievement.

UR Needed
Billboard 1
Thank you to Board Member Don Snyder and NextMedia Outdoor for their inkind donation for billboard space in Green Bay and Appleton.

When the "Call For Kids Campaign"
kicked off in September, inspiring  billboards started cropping up in NE Wisconsin. These boards encourage the community to join Junior Achievement to benefit kids' futures.

The fresh concepts come after many months of brand strategy, messaging and creative work that was lead by Junior Achievement of Wisconsin's Brand Committee.  This includes donated work from one of our board members, Tonita Proulx, and her colleaguess at The Karma Group. We are grateful for their time, creativity and passion for the cause.

Moving forward, the focus is on strengthening our message and building awareness of Junior Achievement. The effort includes this newsletter which will be delivered monthly.

The brand creative packages our mission in an engaging new way: UR needed to help kids realize their potential to do great things.
Surprise Grant Received From Best Buy
Best Buy Presents Check to JA
Melanie Dalland, General Manager
of Best Buy, presents Laura Bilotti
of Junior Achievement with a check
for $2,000. The Principal and
students of Parkview Middle School
attended the celebration.

On September 15, 2010,
Best Buy celebrated its grand opening at Bay Park Square Mall. As part of this event, Junior Achievement of Brown County was chosen as the recipient of its Children's Foundation Award.

Why JA? Melanie, General Manager of Best Buy, said:

"I have memories of being a JA student from elementary school, where we created marketing and business plans for ball point pens.

It was probably my first exposure to real business scenarios as a kid, and I guess it stuck! I also helped facilitate a Job Shadow event at the last Best Buy store I worked at, with 15 high school students. It was a lot of fun hosting, and the teens said they took a lot out of it and had fun themselves! I just think JA teaches kids how to think for themselves and problem solve real life issues. No matter what career they choose later in life, that's a valuable lesson!"

Thank you Melanie Dalland and Best Buy for this generous contribution!

First Giving Hits Brown County

NEW in 2010/2011: Brown County is set up to use First Giving, an online/email tool for collecting donations from friends and family. A special thanks is extended to Ken Liimatta from Schneider National who organized the effort, and to Schneider National for sharing their training center on August 25, 2010. If you have seen some of the emails, you'll notice it's become somewhat of a competition! Look out for the fun and sometimes entertaining pleads for sponsorship.

To get involved contact Laura Bilotti.
