| HB 5617 - Improvements to the Charter Oak Plan
|
The Charter Oak Plan was proposed by the Governor and approved by the General Assembly in last year's legislative session. It establishes a private-sector health care insurance plan for uninsured residents, with limited benefits and a $250 monthly premium. The plan has generated some controversy ( see this Hartford Courant article) and does not include oral health care. HB 5617 would make a number of improvements to the Charter Oak Plan and would add dental services. While the plan is limited, the suggested improvements are supported by COHI and we urge you to contact your state Senator and Representative to encourage them to support the bill. HB 5618 - An Act Concerning Revisions To The Husky Plan
Adds 'continuous eligibility' for up to one year so that HUSKY children aren't dropped due to family changes. Delays new HUSKY contracts (not including dental) to 7/1/09. That would reduce confusion and allow more time to do it right.
HB 5573 - An Act Concerning The Exclusion Of Medical Expenses From Income Calculations For Purposes Of Property Tax Programs For Senior Citizens
Allows senior citizens to deduct medical and dental out-of-pocket expenses from their income when determining eligibility for local property tax relief programs.
