Traditional Arts Ltd "Arabesque"
Conway Stewart, the renowned English pen
manufacturer has been chosen by Traditional Arts Ltd to commission a
fountain pen bearing an exclusive design by artist Amber Khokhar.
This is the first time that Traditional Arts Ltd has
worked with a pen manufacturer and the
result of this collaboration is the 'Arabesque', a sterling silver hand
crafted fountain pen.
Traditional Arts Ltd has been formed in England to
support the continued vitality of traditional approaches to art and
design by commissioning and selling high quality decorative objects.
The products in the core collection have been designed by students and
alumni of The Prince's School of Traditional Arts, in accordance with
principles of harmony enshrined in the artistic traditions of the
world's great cultures.
The engraving design by artist Amber Khokhar is
inspired by arabesque, a style of decoration based on plant forms that
emerged between 750 and 1600 AD. Like more purely geometrical patterns,
it is governed by underlying mathematical principles derived ultimately
from Euclidean Geometry, but it has a particular exuberance and freedom
that comes from its celebratory evocation of the natural world. Here
the rhythm and harmony of the lively biomorphic shapes, contained
within a circle, express the universal principle of growth and renewal.
The Arabesque fountain pen is crafted from a
solid rod of hallmarked sterling silver and is launched in a world-wide
edition of only 10 pieces. LE #1 was presented to HRH The Prince of Wales for his 60th birthday celebrations.
The Prince's Charities 'The
Prince's Charities' is a group of not-for-profit organizations of which
The Prince of Wales is President; 16 of the 18 Charities were founded
personally by him.
The
group is the largest multi-cause charitable enterprise in the United
Kingdom, raising over £100 million annually.
