At the Levin Institute we are particularly attuned to what is happening. Levin Institute hosts session with German Foreign Minister, Henry Kissinger and Brent Scowcroft
"PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE: A NEW TRANSATLANTIC AGENDA FOR THE 21ST CENTURY"

At a panel discussion organized by the Levin Institute and the American Council on Germany on September 24, 2008, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, former U.S. Secretary of State Dr. Henry A. Kissinger, and former National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Brent Scowcroft addressed roughly 140 representatives from the New York business and policymaking communities in the Institute's Global Classroom - as well as nearly 50 additional guests in overflow rooms - about the current and future foreign policy challenges facing the transatlantic community. SUNY-CHINA 150
Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao singled out a unique SUNY program which brought 150 college students from Sichuan Province, China, to New York to spend the academic year at SUNY campuses throughout the state. Continue... |

The Global Credit Crisis: How bad will it get?
Well before the current financial crisis hit the United States and much of the world, The Levin Institute hosted a discussion among leading experts on the credit crunch. Collaborating with the American Council on Germany, the panel event in April included Michael Klein of Citi, Adam Posen of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, Nouriel Roubini of NYU and financial journalist Nikolaus Piper. Levin Trains Future Commercial Attachees from Algeria
The Levin Institute hosted 15 Algerians from the Algerian diplomatic service who are being trained to serve as the first commercial attaches from Algeria. Levin's Dr. Lynne Rosansky led the "International Negotiation" training in April using a customized simulation of a Foreign Direct Investment negotiation. Continue...

RESEARCH
Global Talent Index
The Global Talent Index™ Project, supported in part by IBM, is nearing its final stage. In addition to China, the project also has surveyed the high-end talent in India, Russia, Brazil, and Singapore.
The studies have examined scientists, engineers and other similar definitions of talent in these countries. Using the data available, the study includes an overview, an analysis of supply and demand in 5-10 years, and an assessment of the talent quality and utilization. Continue...

The Research Center for the UN Global Compact established at LEVIN
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Manuel Escudero to Levin. Manuel joins us as the Executive Director of the newly formed "Research Center for the UN Global Compact" with a mission to begin to create the analytic framework to better understand the data on corporate social responsibility provided by the companies who are members of the UN Global Compact. Additionally, as chair of the Principles for Social Responsibility in Management Education (PRIME) initiative, Dr. Escudero will be connecting these business school leaders with Levin. In early December The LEVIN Institute will host a reception for members attending the meetings at the UN. |

Dr. Tao Huang Tao Huang is an associate professor of Science, Technology, and Society at the College of Literature, Law, and Economy, the Wuhan University of Science and Technology. He received his PhD in philosophy from Wuhan University in 2005. Continue...
