How to Handle Tough Interview Questions
Let's
face it. Not all interview questions are created equally, and some are more
challenging to answer than others. However, most hiring managers are not out to
stump or trick candidates in their interview questions. Rather, the majority of
interviewers approach the process as an opportunity to gain the information they
need to evaluate if a candidate is the right match.
In a
nonprofit interview, candidates are expected to do more than talk about their
professional skills. Nonprofit hiring managers rely on interviews to explore a
candidate's soft skills and potential cultural fit with the organization. This
information is uncovered through the content of a candidate's answer, as well as
the candidate's ability to understand the question, think critically about an
answer, and communicate that answer effectively, confidently and
articulately.
This
article discusses some of the toughest yet most effective questions from actual
nonprofit interviews, and suggests strategies for how to communicate the best
possible answers to these questions |
