Civic Builders
Commongood Careers is
excited to announce the hire of Gwen Shufro as the new Director of Development
and External Relations at Civic Builders. Civic Builders is a nonprofit facilities developer that provides turnkey real
estate solutions for high-performing charter schools. By assuming responsibility
for building financing, acquisition, design and construction, Civic Builders relieves
charter schools of the burden of navigating a complex real estate market and
provides affordable educational facilities.
As the new Director of
Development and Communications, Gwen will be charged with developing and implementing the organization's short- and long-term
fundraising plans in order to ensure that adequate funds are available to carry
out the work of the organization. Gwen will also be driving Civic Builders'
organizational marketing and communications strategy designed to maximize
stakeholder cultivation as well as oversight of the organization's advocacy
efforts. For such a large job, Gwen brings eight years of experience
including having raised over $1 million
for BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life) as well as analyzing
investment decisions for an approximately $2 billion endowment
portfolio at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Gwen holds a BA from Williams
College and an MBA from Columbia University.
