Recent Success Story
DonorsChoose.org Deputy Director, Central States Region
Commongood Careers is excited to announce the hire of Alicia Mohr as the Deputy Director for the Central and South Regions at DonorsChoose.org. For this important position, DonorsChoose.org was looking for a self-directed, entrepreneurial individual with professional experience in fundraising, marketing and sales to cultivate new and existing external relationships with both funders and community-based partners. With the support of Commongood Careers, hiring manager Keecia Broy, Executive Director, connected with Alicia Mohr, who was already a supporter of DonorsChoose.org having made frequent donations in support of projects posted to the website. Alicia brought a strong marketing and sales background in the corporate sector as well as a demonstrated passion for the nonprofit sector, having raised money on a volunteer basis for causes that were close to her heart. "This is a unique position and DonorsChoose.org is not your traditional nonprofit organization. However, Commongood Careers definitely understood what we were looking for, and identified strong candidates from resumes that might not have initially appeared to be a fit. Commongood Careers definitely improved my interview questions, especially around culture fit. I learned to ask fewer questions and spend more time talking through each one. Commongood Careers really changed - for the better - how I will interview candidates in the future."
