City
Year unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time
service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world.
As tutors, mentors, and role models, these young leaders make a
difference in the lives of children and transform schools and
neighborhoods across the United States and in South Africa. More than
1,500 corps members serve in 19 City Year sites across the United
States and one site in South Africa.
Envisioning a day when the most commonly asked question of a young
person will be: "Where are you going to do your service year?", City
Year's mission is to build democracy by demonstrating, improving, and
promoting the concepts of citizen service, civic leadership, and social
entrepreneurship.
City Year is currently accepting applications for an Executive Director in Miami, a Co-Executive Director in New Orleans, and a Co-Executive Director in Baton Rouge.

Founded in 2004, Root Cause is a nonprofit organization that accelerates enduring solutions to social and economic problems by supporting social innovators and educating social impact investors. Over the last four years, Root Cause has grown to over 35 full-time, part-time, and contract staff and has an annual budget of $3 million operating six business units. Root Cause is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Marketing to develop and execute a multifaceted strategic marketing and communications plan that will build a unified brand, continue to improve the overall current brand strategy, and enhance the visibility and reputation of Root Cause nationally and internationally. Vital to the position is the ability to establish and sustain relationships with a range of individuals and institutions including small nonprofit leaders, CEO's of public foundations, and leaders at the city, state, and federal levels of government. This position is an exciting opportunity for a marketing professional to contribute to the strategic direction of a growing organization, build their own team and have a tremendous impact on the fast changing social sector and specifically social entrepreneurship throughout the country and the world. On August 1st, the U.S. Labor Department reported that employers cut 75,000 jobs in July. However, this figure comes on the heels of reports of major job growth in the social sector. For example, Johns Hopkins recently released a study showing that the nonprofit job market in Maryland has been growing at three times the rate of the for-profit sector. Additionally, Independent Sector continues to forecast the addition of new jobs in the nonprofit sector and states that by 2010, the nonprofit sector will employ 15 million people.
