Jumpstart is a national early education organization that works toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Through extraordinary attention in yearlong one-to-one relationships, Jumpstart inspires children to learn, adults to teach, families to get involved and communities to progress together. During the 2007-2008 program year, Jumpstart is serving 13,000 children across 20 states.
Jumpstart is currently hiring a Director of Development and Executive Director for its Mid-Atlantic Region.

A few months ago, the Urban Institute published a new edition of its Nonprofit Almanac. This updated report highlights changes in the nonprofit sector over the past ten years, including the following statistics:
- In 2005, 12.9 million people worked for nonprofits, up from 11.1 million in 1998.
- In 2006, wages and salaries totaled $489.4 billion, compared with $318.9 billion in 1998.
These trends reflect a thriving and prosperous social sector, and one that Commongood Careers is proud to support.
