Firelands Winery Wine & Chocolate
February 7th, 2009
12 - 4 pm 

 
As we mentioned last month,  Tre Sorelle will once again be providing the Chocolate for Firelands Winery's annual event. 
 
For $10 each person will be able to sample the fine wines produced by Firelands as well as the chocolates made here at Tre Sorelle. 
 
Each year we introduce new chocolates based on Firelands' wine products.  This year, we are please to announce the addition of:
 
  • Limoncello Truffle
  • Port Panforte
  • Sherry Marzipan
Lorain County Red Cross Chocolate Festival
February 20th 
5:00 - 8:30 

DeLuca's Place in the Park will be the location once again for this annual event. 
 
A $10 donation gives you entry to the Chocolate Extravaganza Room.  There you will be able to choose TEN Chocolate Samples. You decide which samples you want from the many vendors. You will also find Kool Kat Oldies Broadcasting live from the event.  The Big Red Raffle featuring Gift Baskets full of food, fun and chocolate is also held in this room.  The Grand Prize - Cavs Tickets!!! You may also purchase other foods and beverages from DeLuca's
 
Those donating $25 ($20 in advance) can participate in all of the above as well as enjoying the Happy Hour Room.  This includes Everything in the Chocolate Extravaganza Room plus
  • 5 additional samples of chocolate
  • Live Jazz from the Stephen Hardt Trio
  • 1 complimentary cocktail
  • Hot & Cold Hors D'oeuvres

Fun with Chocolate

Chocolate Recipe of the Month 
Classic Chocolate 
Mousse 
 
 
From: Chocolate Bliss  by Sharon O'Connor
Available at Tre Sorelle Cioccolato 
 
4 ounces bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate, rated or finely chopped
4 large egg whites
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier or other orange-flavored liqueur
 
1. In a double boiler over barely simmering water, melt the chocolate, stirring constantly until melted; immediately remove from heat.  Or, melt the chocolate in a microwave on medium for 1 minute; stir and repeat until the chocolate is melted.
2. In a large, dry bowl, beat the egg whites with a handheld electric mixer until soft peaks form.  Sprinkle in the sugar and salt and beat until stiff, glossy peaks form.  Using a rubber spatula, fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture until blended.
3. In a deep bowl, beat the cream until soft peaks form; stir in the liqueur.  Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture; the mixture will be very soft.
4. Divide the mousse evenly among stemmed glasses or pretty bowls, or pour it into a large serving bowl.  Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mousse for at least 2 hours or up to 2 days before serving.
 
Makes 6 to 8 servings

February 14th is Valentine's Day 
 
Tre Sorelle will be open early on Valentine's Day!
 
Stop in from 9am to 3pm Saturday February 14th. 
 
We are running a special on a cup of Green Mountain coffee and a hand-made biscotti.  Both for $2.50.
 
While you are hear, don't forget to give your sweetheart something special!
 
We will again have Chocolate Dipped Strawberries - by order only!
 
Beautiful heart shaped boxes with our cream-filled chocolates in either 1/2 lb or 1 lb sizes.  There is also a handsome heart-shaped box for the gentlemen.

The children aren't forgotten either with 1/4 lb. heart-shaped boxes available with either cream-filled or solid chocolates
 
We can combine our delicious chocolates with recipe books, coffees, teas, and more to create a custom gift basket.  Some ideas are Chocolate Bliss, Coffee Treats, Wine and Chocolate, Spa Retreat, and Afternoon Tea.

Tempering
Chocolate and Molding Solids

Learn the technique of hand-tempering to achieve the distinctive shine and snap for which fine chocolate is known.  Then, turn the tempered chocolate into beautiful, delicious solid chocolates.
