FORUM ON FRIDAY

Thirty people from 19 stores and organizations have already signed up for this year's ABA/GLiBA Forum & Seminar, but there's still room for you! Just let us know that you're coming please, so that we can cater appropriately. Lunch is FREE!

Here's the schedule:

10:45 a.m. Check in (Coffee/Tea)
11:00        Seminar: Increasing Profitability with High Margin Merchandise &Gifts
12:30        Tour of Showroom
1:00-2:45  ABA Booksellers Forum over Lunch (Lunch is FREE)

The seminar will be led by Joan Keehan of NACSCORP and feature panelists Terri Hudson, Manager of the Ashland University Bookstore and Tom Lowry, owner of Lowry's Books & More in Three Rivers and Sturgis, Michigan.

ABA CEO Oren Teicher will lead the Forum. This is the first since Oren took over the top job at ABA, so it's a great opportunity to hear what new directions and initiatives ABA is taking. One of those is strengthening ABA's connections with other independent business organizations, hence our partnership with NACS on this event. Attendees help guide the agenda of the forum, so booksellers are encouraged to come with questions and comments.

The event takes place at NACS's Continuing Education Center, 500 East Lorain St. Oberlin, OH 44074, 440-775-7777 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              440-775-7777      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              440-775-7777      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              440-775-7777      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              440-775-7777      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              440-775-7777      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              440-775-7777      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              440-775-7777      end_of_the_skype_highlighting.

GLiBA 2010
Call for Trade Show Authors

This year's GLiBA Trade Show is October 8-10 at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan, a familiar and well-loved venue for veterans of our show. We're doing a few new things this year, and I'll tell you more about those in a future Broadside, but one of the important things about our show stays the same - GLiBA showcases authors.

Even there we're making changes that will improve the experience. The biggest change is that our autographings will be similar to the Author Reception at Winter Institute, with food & beverages and more opportunity for interaction between the authors and attendees. The autographing reception will take place Saturday evening between the close of the Exhibits and the start of the Banquet. The timing will allow authors to take a more active role on the Trade Show floor as well.

We've also increased the opportunities for authors to speak and made some schedule changes. Here's a summary of the author opportunities at GLiBA:

Luncheon - Friday
Reading Room - Friday Evening
Author Feast - Friday night
Trade Show - All day Saturday
Author Reception - Saturday Evening
Booksellers Banquet - Saturday Night
Children's Brunch (formerly Breakfast) - Saturday noonish

We encourage reps and publishers to nominate authors for appearance at the show. For the Call for Authors form and all the details, see the GLiBA website. For more information, contact Rita Williams at rita@gliba.org or 330-995-9726.

We look forward to seeing you in Dearborn!
