PYT presents Les Misérables: School

of one the greatest musicals ever written,
running August 1 - 9 at the Mountain View
Center for the Performing Arts.
A bishop's unexpected act of kindness
transforms social outcast Jean Valjean into a

inspector refuses to let past sins lie
buried. This author-approved school edition
of the world-renowned musical introduces a
young audience to Victor Hugo's great
humanitarian novel of love, valor and
compassion at the deadly barricades of 19th
-century Paris. Peninsula Youth Theatre's
production is directed by Elise
Marinkovich, with music direction by
Christine Nielsen and choreography by

| Thank you to the Fleishhacker Foundation |
 |
|
PYT would like to give our sincere thanks to
the Fleishhacker Foundation of San
Francisco for their very generous grant of
$10,000 in order to help subsidize our Center
Stage productions. Especially in light of
the current economy, their support and
generosity is appreciated more than ever. We
could not continue bringing high quality
theatre arts educational programs to our
students and family entertainment to our
community without organizations such as the
Fleishhacker Foundation.
The Mortimer Fleishhacker Foundation was
founded in 1947 by Mortimer Fleishhacker, a
banker and businessman who was active in many
non-profit and educational institutions in
the San Francisco Bay Area. He had been a
founder of the Community Chest (forerunner of
the United Way) and was for many years a
Trustee of the University of California. He
also served on the boards of various cultural
organizations in the City.
By 1990, the Foundation's assets totaled $6.5
million. Its two grant categories, arts and
education, were structured into program
interest areas, allowing a range of needs to
be funded within a stated set of priorities.
In 1998 the Foundation moved to the Presidio
which had been de-commissioned as an Army
base and put to civilian use. As of January
2008, assets had grown to approximately $16
million.
PYT is deeply grateful to the Fleishhacker
Foundation for their belief in our programs!
