| Phoneathon Fundraiser Sunday, March 29th |
 |
|
PYT volunteers with be dialing for dollars
on the evening of Sunday, March 29th. Your
support of PYT is more critical than ever
these days. The revenue that we derive from
program fees and ticket sales do not cover
the expenses involved in running our
important programs. We hope you will be as
generous as possible and continue to support
our mission of providing outstanding
theatrical learning experiences and family
entertainment to the community. If you are
interested in volunteering, please contact

| Anne of Green Gables |
 |
|
Coming to Stories on Stage in April:
irrepressible orphan Anne Shirley in the
beloved children's classic Anne of Green
Gables.
Spinster siblings Marilla and Matthew
Cuthbert are expecting an orphan boy to help
with the chores around Green Gables farm, and
are more than a little surprised when Anne
Shirley arrives at the train station in her
ugly dress clutching a tattered carpet bag.
But her optimism and spirit ensure that she
quickly works her way into their hearts in
this first book of the beloved series by Lucy
Maud Montgomery.
Anne of Green Gables runs April 24 and
25 at the Mountain View Center for the
Performing Arts.

|
Artistic Director Dexter Fidler
announced PYT's 2009-10 season prior to the
opening performance of The Music Man on March
We open our season in November 2009 with a
show about hope in hard financial times -
everyone's favorite orphan Annie.
Our March 2010 show is "Pure Imagination" -
the full version of Willy Wonka,
featuring the songs everyone knows and loves
from the film starring Gene Wilder as the
fantastic candy man.
In May we journey to the jungle of Nool with
Horton the Elephant - yes this show is cool!
It's Seussical, the beloved musical
based on the books of Dr. Seuss.
A Lion, a witch and a wardrobe bring the
Pevensy children to the magical - and in our
case musical - land of Narnia, which
will run in July 2010.
We close our season with a PYT premiere -
kick off your Sunday shoes for
Footloose - the hit musical soon to be
released as a major motion picture.
Our 2009-10 "Stories on Stage" season
features a great roster of adaptations of
children's books: Miss Nelson is
Missing, The Selfish Giant, a
world premier adaptation of Auntie
Claus, Puss in Boots, Lyle the
Crocodile, Lilly's Purple Plastic
Purse, The Velveteen Rabbit and
The House at Pooh Corner.

| Summer Interns Wanted! |
 |
|
Do you enjoy working with children? Want to
learn how to run a mean game of "Sneaky
Statues"? Are you a whiz with the glue gun?
Have some bright ideas on how to turn a
refrigerator box into a giant peach? Well...
PYT is seeking interns ages 15-17 for our
"Theatre in the Park" program. "Theatre in
the Park" is a two week theater camp for
children ages 6-14. Camp participants take
classes in acting, voice, movement and
improvisation, and on the final day of each
camp session they put on a free public
performance of a play. Some of this years
play titles include classic stories like
The Hobbit, Peter Pan and
Rumplestiltskin, and new favorites
like The Tiger Turned Pink.
Interns lead theater games, assist with
casting and rehearsals and work with the
children to create colorful sets and costumes
in 'the shop'. They get the opportunity to
work along side many of their favorite
CenterStage and "Stories on Stage" directors,
as well as PYT alumni.
This is a great opportunity for anyone
interested in pursuing a career in theater or
education, or anyone that wants to put their
leadership skills and theater knowledge to
the test.
Unlike many local summer camp internship
programs, while the first summer of a PYT
internship is unpaid, interns that return for
subsequent summers qualify for a stipend per
camp session. Others prefer to use the hours
for community service projects. Many interns
have gone on to become full-fledged teachers
when they graduate!
If you think you might be interested in a
"Theatre in the Park" internship, please
contact Katie O'Bryon, PYT's resident teacher
via email at kobryon@pytnet.org.
If you are between the ages of 6 and 14 and
would like to attend a Theatre in the Park
camp, check out the schedule on our website
www.pytnet.org. Many sessions still have
space available!

| Volunteer Photographer Opportunity |
 |
|
PYT's resident photographers Lyn Healy
and Dan Clarke volunteer each and
every show to take the beautiful photos
during tech week that are available for
purchase.
Dan and Lyn are looking for a third
photographer that would like to help with
this important part of each production.
If you are interested, please email Karen
Simpson at:
