Can You Spell "Vocal Performance Workshop?"

Members of the PYT community recently had an opportunity to meet members of the cast of the Tony-winning, smash hit show The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee during its extended run in San Francisco.

Now PYT is bringing the Bee to you! Jared Gertner (William Barfee) and Stanley Bahorek (Leaf Coneybear) will be teaching a vocal performance workshop on August 18th at the PYT studios.

Mr. Bahorek’s other credits include the National Tour of Deaf West Theatre’s Big River and Henrik in A Little Night Music at TheatreWorks. Regional credits include Music Theatre of Wichita (Motel in Fiddler, Prince in Cindrella, Ragtime, Honk!,) Pasadena Playhouse and Deaf West Theatre. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan.

Mr. Gertner’s other credits include New York premieres of Anatomy 1968 (Theatre Row, SPF) and Corduroy (TWUSA). Regional credits include Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, St. Louis Rep, Papermill Playhouse, The Orpheum Theatre and the 11th Hour Theatre Company in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of NYU/Tisch.

Only twenty students may participate in this special vocal performance class. The class is on August 18, from 12:30 - 3:15pm. Cost is $60 per student. Enrollment forms may be faxed to PYT (650-988-0823) or dropped off at the PYT offices.

    Almuni Cabaret a Big Success

The first PYT Alumni Cabaret was a huge success! More than 250 people came to the event, which was held at the King's Academy Theatre.

The night featured performances by alums who have been involved through all of PYT's past fifteen years.

The board would like to thank Stephanie Ringstaff for her dedication and hard work to make this wonderful event possible.

If you are or know a PYT alum who would be interested in participating in our new alumni association, email pyt_alumni@yahoo.com.

    Don't Miss "Joseph!"

Tickets are still available for the closing weekend of PYT's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, playing through Sunday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.

Featuring dazzling music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, Joseph is sure to be a hit with the whole family!

    Fall Enrollment Starts Aug. 7

PYT's fall classes will be available for online enrollment starting August 7.

New classes include a "College Audition Intensive". PYT artistic director Dexter Fidler will work with students to perfect dramatic and comedic monologues to use during the college audition process and beyond.

Back by popular demand: "Monday Evening Players." This semester, the class will rehearse and perform The Love for Three Oranges, a zany comedy in the Commedia Dell’Arte style, complete with masks, music and broad physical humor. It's a great performance opportunity for students who don't have the time to participate in a CenterStage production. Directed by resident teacher Katie O'Bryon.

These classes join other favorites including "Story Stretchers," "Munchkin Players" and "Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance."
