TRAIN YOUR MANAGERS

 SEND TO A COLLEAGUE
Greetings

Dacri & Associates turns 15 today! On June 1, 1995, I followed my dream and took a leap of faith in starting my own consulting firm (OK, my wife gave me a badly needed push). After a decade and a half, I've continuously seen the positive effects good management advice and coaching can have in helping both managers and organizations improve the performance of their workforce.

All of my clients come to me with similar needs: they've struggled with managing their workforce; want to to increase productivity; need help finding and retaining good people; are unsure how to comply with all these employment laws; or want to improve their own level of performance.

I take pride in having helped hundreds of executives, business owners, CEOs, boards of directors, line managers and HR professionals. A number of my clients have been with me since the early days including ABCD, Wyman Gordon and Rogerson Communities. I want to thank them and all the other individuals and organizations I have had the privilege to work with over these past 15 years.

I'll spare you the long walk down memory lane and end by saying I look forward to another 15 years working with each of you. I've enjoyed every minute of it.

Thank you!

Rick Dacri

MANAGING IS HARD: THE CASE FOR SUPERVISORY TRAINING

Managers understand that organizational success is dependent upon having motivated and engaged employees- employees who are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. These hard working, passionate workers drive the organization forward.

While we understand that the level of productivity in your organization correlates directly to the level of employee engagement, both productivity and engagement are dependent upon having good front line supervisors. Study after study shows that organizational excellence requires supervisors who are best at getting the most from their people.

Imagine what it would be like for your organization to be experiencing:

  • EMPLOYEE MISCLASSIFICATIONS TARGETED
  • Last month I advised you on the need to properly classify employees and independent contractors. I reported that both the IRS and state governments have begun increasing employer audits. Now we learn that, Congress has introduced new legislation targeting abuses of the employee/independent contractor classifications. The Employee Misclassification Prevention Act is aimed at insuring that workers who are considered "employees" under the broad test of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) are properly classified by their employers-making them eligible for minimum wage and overtime compensation and other statutory employee protections and providing tax revenue to the government through employer withholdings and payments.

All employers should immediately begin a two- pronged review:1) review every exempt employee to ensure they are properly classified under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); and 2) test each of your independent contractor positions using both the federal and states tests to ensure that they are properly classified. As I noted last month, a government audit can be painful, time consuming and expensive. Prepare now.

Call me if you need assistance.
