Save Money
 Dear OVU Alumni & Friends,
Facebook did a survey last winter: What are the top ten New Year's Resolutions? Number two is not a surprise: Lose weight. However, number one surprised me: Save more money.
Money permeates our culture. Books on how to make money abound. Investment tips fill the magazines.
Do you want a tip on how to invest money? Invest your money in Christian education.

Sept 12, 2012 - OVU alumnus Mark Bell baptizing a young man at Gander Brook Christian Camp. I know the image quality is not the best, but I had to share with you the good works our students and alumni are involved in!

Why? What returns do you get on such an investment?
- Christian education pays off in young lives
- Helping a young person launch their life in the Christian way provides the highest return on your dollar
- The interest rate soars when a person enters a Christian school with a chip on their shoulder and leaves with Christ in their heart
- Christian education allows your investment to grow tax free
- This investment matures both now and in eternity
- There are no fees
Personally, I'm grateful that people in my past invested in my Christian education. Many of them are gone now, but their funds continue to work.
Will you join us in investing in Christian education! Dr. Harold ShankPresident

OVU Launches Intensive English Program with Trip Overseas
Communication is key. Imagine what it would be like to go to school in another country where you don't know or understand the language. Ohio Valley University has started a new Intensive English Program to teach international students how to communicate in preparation for pursuing a degree.
As part of this program, Ashley Fugett, Intensive English Program director, spent three weeks of the summer in Japan and Korea in an effort to increase awareness of what OVU has to offer. OVU has had several students from both Japan and Korea in the past...

Fighting Scots Join NCAA Division II Great Midwest Athletic Conference
Ohio Valley University (OVU) announced that it has accepted the invitation of the newly formed NCAA Division II Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) effective July 1, 2013.
With the West Virginia Intercollegiate Conference (WVIAC) about to begin its final year, OVU was left with no choice but to find a new conference home for fall 2013.
"If nostalgia had carried the day, this wouldn't have happened," OVU Athletic Director Dennis Cox said. "To think a conference that has the tradition and longevity of the WVIAC would no longer exist ... it is sad..."

New Internship Day for OVU Bible Majors
OVU Bible majors get wonderful experience while students at the university. In the past six years our students have had summer internships in West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ghana, Romania, and the United Kingdom.
Our process for helping students find their internships has been a bit disorganized in previous years. This year the School of Biblical Studies is trying to plan something new, a special Bible majors internship day, on our campus for Thursday, November 8. We will set up tables in the Alumni Gymnasium for all those who would like to have an intern for next summer. The goal is to have those doing the interviews available that day from 9:00-11:00 AM and from 1:00-3:00 PM.
Anyone who would like to participate, should contact Dr. Michael Moss (michael.moss@ovu.edu | 304.865.6123). Please put together a job description and an application so that students who are interested can fill it out prior to the event.
