Partners
Dear OVU Alumni & Friends, Paul used the word "partnership" to describe his relationship with the Philippian Church. The term reflected their common vision, their work together in proclaiming the Gospel and their shared joy in Christ. The same word usefully defines the relationship between OVU and the Churches of Christ. We share a common mission, join together in teaching the Gospel and find a mutual joy in our walk with Christ.
Beginning at my inauguration and continuing in speeches I've made from Connecticut to Columbus, in comments I've shared in Morgantown and Nashville, and dozens of places in between, I've said that Ohio Valley University is a Church of Christ school. It's who we are and what we want to be.- We seek to transform young lives so they can make a difference in their work, homes, neighborhoods and local congregations.
- We teach the Gospel every day at our University. No wonder a dozen students have been baptized this school year.
- We worship and rejoice in Jesus in our daily chapel just as local congregations do the same on Sunday.
"Partnership" was an important concept in New Testament days. Let's make sure we continue to maintain our partnerships today. As a partner with OVU check out these links: Sincerely, Dr. Harold ShankPresident

Meet the OVU Alumni Advisory Council
The development of an active and engaged Alumni Association for Ohio Valley University and Northeastern Christian Junior College is now officially underway. OVU's new 3-year Strategic Plan makes alumni relations an integral part of Advancement's renewed effort to muster support for the university among current and former students.

Plans are for the members of the council to lead former and current students to be more connected to their alma mater. | OVU's Bible Department offers many ways to refresh and sharpen your ministry
|
Like a Water Jug and a File
In ministry, people are frequently dulled by experiences that can be overwhelming and exhausting. Before wearing ourselves out and becoming frustrated, it is important to rest, refresh, retool and sharpen our minds. Ohio Valley University carries out a ministry in providing Christians with multiple opportunities for growth and service. It is not just our tools that need to be sharpened; sometimes it is us.
Many who grew up on early-day farms recall going with the family as a preschooler to a field to chop cotton. Included in this memory are the heat of the day, the vastness of the field and the water jug at the end of the row. There were two tools required. The first, obviously, was a hoe. The second tool, kept near the water jug, was the unsung hero of the occasion. It was a 10-inch file for sharpening the hoe. The sandy soil of the field soon removed any rust from the hoe but it would also take the edge off of the blade. The drink of water and the quick work with the file at the end of the row was more than just a ritual. It was essential to finishing the day well.
The faculty and staff at OVU want to help those in ministry do well...
