What is the 10.11.12 Initiative?

It is a date and a commitment to community for another year of service. One of our three keys to leadership is TAKE ACTION, and with this in mind, Girl Scouts are continuing this initiative, in partnership with Direct Energy, that we hope will inspire our Girl Scouts and/or troops to step up and help their communities in a sustainable way for a third year. By October 11, 2012, which is 10.11.12, we hope to make an impact that has a lasting impact on our communities. 10.11.12 is designed to show all Girl Scouts how a small contribution and effort can make a major impact on their local communities. Girl Scout troops may choose to have their contributions go to the program beneficiaries they choose. Great News!

GSNETX has expanded the list of approved First-Aid/CPR Providers from 4 to 7 to give you a wider choice of vendors and created a cheat sheet of information, including what the certification cards look like. Be sure to check out our Frequently Asked Questions. Knowing the right questions to ask when booking an instructor can save you time and money. Click here for more information.

New Leader? Got Questions? We've Got Answers!
Visit our Troop Leader Frequently Asked Questions page for quick information on topics such as how to divide up responsibilities with your co-leader, what training is required, who should fill out a volunteer application, and preparing to meet the girls' parents/guardians for the first time.

What Would Doubling the Amount of Support You Receive From Your Troop Families do For You?

National studies show that the more clearly you define the ways that parents can help, the more likely they are to step in. If done correctly, you will build a solid support base, strengthen the girls' chances of longevity with your troop, and potentially even increase participation from your dads. Click here to learn more.

GSNETX Camping Reservation Form Updated

On August 16 a new GSNETX Camping Reservation and Approval Form was introduced. When you want to register to use a GSNETX camp you will not have to submit a Low Risk Activity Approval Form. Short-Term Volunteers Needed for 2013 Spring Series

Our council is fortunate to have received grants to implement fun and exciting leadership series for our girls the spring - STEM and Hispanic Leadership Project. We are currently looking for short-term volunteers to coordinate, plan and implement the 2012 spring series in key areas. With your kind support, this opportunity will impact the lives of girls that do not have the ability or resources to participate in our traditional troop pathways. They get to experience Girl Scouting through engaging series that will give them amazing transformational leadership tools, and engage parents and new volunteers to start new troops. Your gift in making this happen for our girls is priceless!

"Volunteers don't necessarily have the time but they have the heart!"

For more information on the grant details and/or how you can support, contact Mara Rodriguez at mrodriguez@gsnetx.org or 972.349.2450.

Membership MEMBERSHIP

Will You Be One of the Lucky 20?

We have an exciting opportunity for 20 lucky re-registering Girl Scout troops to win a $25 GSNETX shop gift card (each Membership Specialist will have a girl card to award). In order to be eligible for the drawing, each Girl Scout troop must reach 100% of their expected number of re-registering girls. This offer is extended to Girl Scout troops who participated in Early Bird spring re-registeration and/or On-Time fall registration. New Girl Scout troops will not be included in this drawing. Contact your Service Unit Manager or Membership Specialist for more details.

Be the First to Choose a Cookie Booth Location!

Six amazingly lucky troops will have the opportunity to choose a cookie booth location before the system booth scheduler opens up to all troops. Imagine knowing that your cookie booth location is set and secure before all other troops! So how can your troop get entered into this spectacular drawing?

All you have to do is have your troop at 100% retention and get all of the registration paperwork turned into your Service Unit registrar by September 7, 2012. Once you have met the requirements, your troop will be entered into a drawing in your respective area. Don't miss out on this opportunity; get your entire troop re-registered! Winners for the contest will be announced in December. Contact your Membership Specialist for any questions.

This contest is only open to existing troops.

Tie a Ribbon Around Your Finger for These Registration Reminders

Within ten days upon receiving membership registration and/or Family Partnership donations, please deliver all monies and paperwork to your Membership Specialist. Girl Scout troops are not considered registered until the paperwork and membership dues reach a Council representative.

If a member does not have a pre-printed form, please use a blank Membership Registration Form.

Individually registered Girl Scout Girls and Adult Volunteers, who wish to participate in fall registration and purchase a patch, may do so.

Individuals re-registering online before the deadline can purchase an Online Patch.
