Sign Up Now to be a Council Delegate

Girl Scout Service Units are currently in the process of electing Council Delegates. The number of delegates each Service Unit may elect is based on a formula dependent on the total number of girls registered last year. As a Council Delegate, you will receive information about our council's governance system and the role you play in the democratic process of Girl Scouts. You will be required to attend the April 14th Annual Meeting, to be held in the morning at the Dallas Arboretum. As a representative of your Service Unit, delegates will hear first-hand the work of the Board of Directors over the past year and will officially elect the new Board of Directors and the Board Development Committee.

If you're interested in becoming a Council Delegate, please contact your Service Unit Manager. For additional information, please contact Jenifer Moreau at jmoreau@gsnetx.org or (972) 349-2430. Please note, all Delegate/Alternate information is due to GSNETX by Friday,
February 24, 2012.

cookCookie Updates

The Cookie Program has officially begun!

On Friday, January 6, tens of thousands of GSNETX Girl Scouts hit the streets, order cards in hands, as they embarked on the three month journey of learning valuable life and business skills through the GS Cookie Program. We hope that your girls are energized and ready to show the world what a cookie can do! This year we are calling all Girl Scouts to show the world what their cookie can do in our Show the World contest. Girls K-12 are encouraged to share their cookie's story with us through film, literature, photography, drawing, painting, collage, or photo diary for the opportunity of a lifetime-a trip to Savannah, Georgia! The individual winner of the Show the World Challenge will have the opportunity to jet away to the city where it all began. She and three guests will receive airfare, a rental car, hotel accommodations, and a tour of Juliette Gordon Low's Birthplace. For more information, visit http://www.texascookietime.com/ShowtheWorld.aspx. There are tons of resources available to you - check out http://www.texascookietime.com for volunteer forms and resources as well as links to fun games for girls, information on the new national cookie badges, and MORE!

NASA's Orion Spacecraft to Land in Oklahoma, Texas and Alabama

A test version of NASA's Orion spacecraft soon will make a cross-country journey, giving residents in 3 states the chance to see a full-scale test version of the vehicle that will take humans into deep space.

The crew module will make stops during a trip from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The planned stops include Jan. 27-29 at Victory Park and the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Engineers, program officials, astronauts and NASA spokespeople will be available to speak with the media and the public.

The full-scale test vehicle was used by ground crews in advance of the launch abort system flight test that took place in New Mexico in 2010. Orion will serve as the vehicle that takes astronauts beyond low-Earth orbit, and the first orbital flight test is scheduled for 2014.
