Programs Updates

Goodwill Dallas Good Turn Project
The Good Turn Project is a collaborative service opportunity with Goodwill Industries of Dallas and Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas to help individuals with disabilities and disadvantages that need special job training.

Approximately 500 Girl Scouts from Northeast Texas collected over 1,900 7-10 gallon size bags of usable clothing and household items that Goodwill can sell in their stores. The money from these sales funds job training for people in the community, helping them to become self sufficient wage earners.

Congratulations to Troop 675 from Flower Mound who collected 17 bags per Girl Scout! For all their hard work, they will earn a pizza party hosted by Goodwill Dallas! Thank you to all who participated and great job!

GS Gold Award Round Tables
Another great way to get familiar with the new GS Gold Award guidelines is through our Girl Scout Gold Award Roundtables. These informal, come and go events allow girls to meet members of the Gold Award Committee, get general information about the committee,  get ideas for possible projects, and ask any questions they may have about the process. No pre-registration required. Next Roundtable: Saturday, December 11. JoAnn Fogg Service Center, Dallas. For more information please visit

Girl Scout destinations

Have you ever wanted to backpack across a rainforest, volunteer in a community in South America, or try astronaut training? With Girl Scout destinations, you can do all these things and so much more. Deadlines are quickly approaching so please visit for more information about Girl Scout destinations.  For questions, contact Emilie Anderson at or 940.243.1314.

100th Anniversary Council Sponsored Trips

Come join the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas on an amazing adventure to Savannah, Georgia or to Washington, DC.  All trips are either for Girl Scout troops or "She and Me" (Girl Scout and Mother/Grandmother/Aunt/Adult Sister). Girls need to have completed at least one year of GS Juniors, or completed 4th grade, by 2012. If we have enough interest from adults, there will be a separate tour for adults only during the same dates. To learn how to enroll in the trips or for any questions, contact Emilie Anderson at 940.243.1314 or or visit

Play 60 Super Bowl Challenge

Join GSNETX, The National Football League, American Heart Association and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas in participating in the Play 60 Super Bowl Challenge. This program helps Girl Scouts in 3rd-6th grades learn about staying fit so that they can have longer, healthier lives, and integrate physical fitness into their everyday activities. By participating, girls may be eligible for NFL prizes. For more information on how to participate click here.

Sad News to Share

We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Debbi Garrison, who was a longtime friend and volunteer for Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. Most recently, she served as the SU Manager for 155, as a liaison for the GS Gold Award Committee, as an Adult Education Facilitator, and was going to serve as the Chair of the Adult Recognitions Committee.  She was also a Leader for Troop 3150.

GSNETX has established a memorial fund for the benefit of Debbi's daughter, Bryna Garrison. Donations may be made either by check to the address below or via our website.
