Real Girl Honoree an Inspiration to Others
Haley Avery is truly an amazing person. Her peers will tell you she is a loyal friend and her teachers have always admired her fierce determination yet gentle nature.
Haley is a Girl Scout Ambassador, a senior at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas, and is currently working on her Girl Scout Gold Award. Since 2007, she has spent over 1,500 hours of her time volunteering at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, earning her Girl Scout Community Service Bar through her volunteer work there.

Meet Katy Jo Hammon
Katy Jo Hammon has been an avid Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas volunteer for over 25 years. During that time she has been busy serving as an Outdoor Program volunteer, has served on the Board Property and Travel Pathway Committees, has taken the lead on her Service Unit Team, and has volunteered at Camp Bette Perot!

8.9.10 with Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas
Hundreds of Girl Scouts from across northeast Texas gathered at the Kroger store on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas on Monday, August 10 to participate in the 8.9.10 event.
8.9.10 is a date (August 9, 2010) and a commitment to community. One of Girl Scouts' three keys to leadership is TAKE ACTION. With this in mind, Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas launched a new initiative in partnership with Frito-Lay and Kroger to inspire Girl Scout troops to step up and help their communities in a sustainable way. The goal was to help raise awareness about two of our area’s biggest hardships – hunger and illiteracy – by completing one of our biggest drives ever.

On September 8, 2010 from 7 am to 7 pm, Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas is taking part in Get up and Give! North Texas Giving Day. On September 8, every donation above $25 will be matched if you donate through www.donorbridgetx.org, an online resource to connect donors with nonprofit organizations like us.

Real Girls Real Women Luncheon
The annual Real Girls Real Women Dallas Awards Luncheon recognizes outstanding women leaders and Girl Scouts for their service to the community. This year's honorees include: Ebby Halliday, Harriet Miers and Becky Sykes. The 2010 Luncheon Chairman is Gina Betts. Funds raised during Real Girls Real Women—Dallas provide the “Gift of Girl Scouting” and support the activities of girls in traditional Girl Scout Troops. Click here to learn more. |
