The aim of the conference is to help to develop a community of early stage researchers relating to green roof function, performance, benefits and design. Reflections of Fall 2010 Greenroof Conferences: Singapore, Part 2
Read Linda's second installment about presenting the Top 10 List and their visit to gorgeous Singapore for the inaugural "International Skyrise Greenery Conference." Organizers Singapore National Parks Board, CUGE, and IGRA did a fantastic job and the speakers and tours were awesome. A week in the clean and very green tropical island nation of sky gardens and greenroofs just wasn't enough!

Jeff Sorrill, Centre Manager of The Green Roof Centre in Sheffield, England, writes about the "Launch of The GRO Green Roof Code for the UK." Thanks to European funding, this new industry supported code is set to raise the bar for green roofs. Jeff reports that maximum environmental benefits have not always been realized, due to a lack of UK-specific guidance. In response, the Green Roof Organisation, or GRO, has developed and launched a UK code, with Life+ funding, secured by Groundwork Sheffield.

Over the MLK weekend, she and Linda participated in a training in New York by Green Living Technologies (GLT). Guests of CEO George Irwin, about 30 students and 60 professionals attended. They saw firsthand how green roofs and green wall training can benefit youth and underserved adults getting into or returning to the work force with green collar jobs. They also got to meet some great people, including Discovery High School teacher/administrator Steve Ritz and friends.
