Green Rooftops
Clark Ricks has provided an in-depth view of the
industry at large in Waterproof! Magazine, how
the "green building movement is affecting every
segment of the construction industry, stressing that
waterproofing is no exception. One of the most visible
areas affected by the movement is commercial
roofing, where rooftops are literally being built green
with living plants." The challenges to designers and
contractors are discussed, along with a very good
overview of the current situation, and many greenroof
industry companies are cited as well as project
examples. [01.08]

Read our new Guest Feature article from George
Irwin, "An Intro to Green Walls and Green Roofs: Living
Architecture at its Best." George
writes, "Since the
days of Babylon, vegetation has been growing on, in
or around both the horizontal and vertical planes of
buildings, more specifically the roofs and walls." The
greenroof movement has naturally
evolved to include green walls, and George shows us
how "the green roof has now literally climbed over the
parapet and down, or up the walls."
