The Hospice Program of Dare Home Health and Hospice is a vital part of the Dare County community providing comfort, support and care when there is no cure. Funds raised from the Classic Charity are used specifically for Hospice's volunteer coordination activities. Through Hospice, doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains, counselors and volunteers work together to enable patients to live out their final days with dignity in comfortable surroundings. Hospice also provides grief support for the patient's family and loved ones during the difficult times of life's final chapters and for a year after the patient passes away.

Saltwater Connections

will meet at 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, at the Fessenden Center Activity Room in Buxton. The purpose of the meeting is to prepare for a Resource Team visit to Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras on October 24 - 26. The Resource Team consists of 10 people with expertise in sustainable economic development that builds on cultural and natural assets and the strengths of communities. The team will tour the villages, and talk to as many residents as possible to learn about opportunities and challenges for our villages, and to understand what residents would like their villages to be like in the future. At the September 28 meeting, we will discuss which important cultural and natural sites the team should see, how we will organize community meetings during the visit, and what advance information we want to mail to team members. A Saltwater Connections Resource Team visited Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, and Avon in May. Information about that visit is available at http://saltwaterconnections.org , under the Resource Team tab.

Always...Patsy Cline
Sunday Performance to Benefit Dare County Arts Council

http://stonehamtheatre.org/images/patsycline09_page.jpgTake a break from hurricane chores, plan a group outing and bring the family to experience a delightful Sunday afternoon event, Always...Patsy Cline, a two- act musical starring our own Laura Martier as the legendary Patsy Cline, with music from her vast repertory, and Miss Barbara Hird as her friend Louise Seger. Five dollars of every ticket sold to this special performance will be donated to the Dare County Arts Council to help repair their new Manteo facility which was badly damaged by Hurricane Irene.

The special program, open to the public, will be held Sun., Sept. 25 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills.

This hit musical, based on a true story in the life of Patsy Cline, explores Patsy's pen-pal friendship and includes music from Patsy's vast repertory. After Louise Seger heard Patsy Cline on the Arthur Godfrey Show in 1957, she became an immediate fan and then constantly hounded the local disk jockey to play Patsy's records on the radio. The story takes place in Houston, Louise's hometown, and by coincidence at one of Patsy's shows, the two met and instantly struck up a friendship that lasted until Patsy's death in 1963.

Always...Patsy Cline's performances are sponsored by East Carolina Bank. Tickets for the Sunday performance are now available at Gray's Department Store in Kitty Hawk andSouthern Bank in Kill Devil Hills and Manteo. Advance tickets are $22 and tickets at the door are $25 an adult and $12 per student. For more information, call 252-255-2274. Or, visit www.outerbanksforum.org.
