Between Heart and Hand
Making a difference with the Red Cross
The American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Becoming a Red Cross Volunteer requires several steps. Mike D says "They prepare you and give you some information so that you will have a clue as to what to do and what specialty area that you want to pursue. We definitely love volunteers and I encourage more of our community to get involved.  Contact Jim at the local chapter st (252)335-2185. Tell him that Mike D. sent you !"
To see what volunteer jobs are currently available, please visit our Volunteer Opportunities page. Once you have determined where you would like to work, you will need to fill out certain documents like the volunteer application , volunteer handbook , code of conduct and intellectual property agreement.

Go Local at Peace and Justice Documentary
The Outer Banks Peace and Justice Interfaith Coalition is beginning their new documentary film series with the showing of The Economics of Happiness, an award-winning documentary.  The film will be shown at All Saints Episcopal Church at 7:00 pm on September 20.  The world seems to be moving

in two opposing directions. Government and big business promote globalization and consolidation of corporate power. But all around the world people are resisting those policies, demanding a re-regulation of trade and finance-and, far from the old institutions of power, they're starting to forge a very different future. Communities are coming together

The Economics of Happiness
The Economics of Happiness

Going local' is a powerful strategy to repair our fractured world-our ecosystems, our societies and ourselves.

Everyone is welcome.  Donations are very much appreciated. The Coalition pays nonprofit public viewing rights for each film (this is NOT a family-rental through Netflix or Amazon). Economics of Happiness cost $100.00.
