Cancer Documentary Scheduled for April 19
 | Crazy Sexy Cancer |
Crazy Sexy Cancer is an irreverent and uplifting documentary about a young woman looking for a cure and finding her life. In 2003, 31-year-old actress/photographer Kris Carr was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer. Weeks later she began filming her story. Taking a seemingly tragic situation and turning it into a creative expression, Kris shared her inspirational story of survival with courage, strength, and lots of humor.
With experimental treatment as her only option, Kris became determined to find answers where there were none. She travele

d throughout the country interviewing experts in alternative medicine as she tenaciously dove head first into a fascinating and often hilarious holistic world. Along the way, she met other vivacious young women determined to become survivors. Their stories are as poignant and exciting as the women who tell them. As Kris's amazing journey unfolds, she realizes that healing is about truly living rather than fighting.
Crazy Sexy Cancer is more than a thought provoking film, it's an attitude! It's about rising to the challenge of life and turning lemons into champagne. This film contains profanity. The Outer Banks Peace and Justice Interfaith Coalition, along with the Cancer Support Group, will be showing 'My Crazy Sexy Cancer', on Tuesday, April 19th, 7:00 pm at Kelly's Restaurant. Open to the public; no charge, but donations are always appreciated. Come early for appetizers and drinks, or earlier for a great meal at Kelly's.

Horseback riding skills and horsemanship are taught in a fun way that includes games and time to explore all the horse has to offer. Sam shares, "The participants love playing catch with the volunteers from horseback. They also play around the world, where they ride sideways and backwards, as well as forward. All participants have their individual time to work with their volunteers and NARHA certified instructor." A brief note from Sam on riders who have thrived at Mane and Tails. "Brian would brush and lead a horse, but was afraid to get on the back of him. Eventually, Cowboy (the horse) took him for a slow and careful ride. Brian was not afraid after that. Now he waves at the camera when he goes by." "When Dani began riding, she needed the support of two strong people to help her balance, and she was unable to go for more than one lap around the area. Today she balances herself and doesn't want to get off the horse." "Another young lady with very limited use of one arm and limited verbal ability, as well as no use of her legs, rides a horse proudly at a walk. And goes to a trot for a taste of real freedom. Mary uses a wheelchair for mobility and only has the use of her right arm. She rode a horse with enough balance to wave at the camera with her strong arm,"
