Many decades of research have validated treatments based on ABA.

Red flagCancer
Cancer remains the leading cause of
death in Dare County and continues to be a community health concern although the trend in overall cancer deaths reflects a downward pattern. Trends show that the incidence and mortality attributed to lung, prostate, and
colorectal cancers are decreasing, while breast cancer rates are higher in Dare County than in the state. In Dare County, 34 women and a total of 6,301 women in North Carolina died of breast cancer between 2004 and 2008. The incidence of breast cancer rates in Dare County have been on the upswing, however this has taken a downward turn recently with our rates dropping
nine percent (9%) from 30.4/100,000 between 2004-2008 to 27.6/100,000 between 2005-2009. While this recent downward trend is certainly positive, the news is not all good, as
Dare's rate is still seventeen percent (17%) higher than the North Carolina rate of 23.5/100,000. Much work has already been done to combat cancer in our community, with targeted efforts
towards breast cancer, but more can be done to achieve a positive impact on cancer in Dare.

Red flagHeart Disease & Stroke
Heart disease is the second leading cause of death in Dare County and North Carolina, and remains the leading cause of death in the United States. Dare County's mortality rate at 162.4/100,000 is twenty percent (20%) lower than the North Carolina rate of 202.2/100,000 and nineteen percent (19%) lower than the United
States rate of 200.2/100,000. While the current trend of decreasing mortality for our community is a desirable one, heart disease remains a significant concern. In fact, heart disease is
responsible for more hospitalizations than any other health condition and accounted for more than 4.5 million dollars in hospital charges for Dare County residents in 2008. That's a heavy load to bear especially for a disease that may be preventable by making healthy lifestyle choices.
Cancer Documentary Scheduled for April
Crazy Sexy Cancer promo
Crazy Sexy Cancer

Crazy Sexy Cancer  is an irreverent and uplifting documentary about a young woman looking for a cure and finding her life.

In 2003, 31-year-old actress/photographer Kris Carr was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer. Weeks later she began filming her story. Taking a seemingly tragic situation and turning it into a creative expression, Kris shared her inspirational story of survival with courage, strength, and lots of humor.

With experimental treatment as her only option, Kris became determined to find answers where there were none. She traveled throughout the country interviewing experts in alternative medicine as she tenaciously dove head first into a fascinating and often hilarious holistic world. Along the way, she met other vivacious young women determined to become survivors. Their stories are as poignant and exciting as the women who tell them. As Kris's amazing journey unfolds, she realizes that healing is about truly living rather than fighting.

Open to the public; no charge, but donations are always appreciated.  Come early for appetizers and drinks, or earlier for a great meal at Kelly's.
