There is one more flu vaccination clinic for seasonal flu vaccine.

Getting My Head Out of the Sand
A study by Yale University found that 63 percent of Americans believe that global warming is happening, but many do not understand why. In this assessment, only 8 percent of Americans have knowledge equivalent to an A or B, 40 percent would receive a C or D, and 52 percent would get an F. It is nice to know I'm not alone - but it doesn't make me feel any better.
The study also found important gaps in knowledge and common misconceptions about climate change and the earth system. These misconceptions lead some people to doubt that global warming is happening orthat human activities are a major contributor, to misunderstand the causes and therefore the solutions, and to be unaware of the risks. Thus many Americans lack some of the knowledge needed for informed decision-making in a democratic society.
Americans also recognize their own limited understanding of the issue. Only 1 in 10 say that they are "very well informed" about climate change, and 75 percent say they would like to know more. Likewise, 75 percent say that schools should teach our children about climate change and 68 percent would welcome a national program to teach Americans about the issue.

National Business Women's Week October 18-22
Each year during the third week in October, we stop a moment to honor the contributions of working women and the employers who support them during Business and Professional Women's Foundation's Week, a great opportunity to recognize and highlight the progress women have made as business owners and entrepreneurs. Today there are 7.2 million majority-owned, privately-held, women-owned businesses in the United States. These firms employ 7.3 million people and generate $1.1 trillion in sales. Only twenty years ago it was still legal to require a woman to have a male co-signer before receiving a business loan. That changed with the passage of the Women's Business Ownership Act in 1988.
Not all women-owned or run businesses are small. There are currently 13 women running Fortune 500 companies. While that is nowhere close to parity, it does represent an increase over the mere 2 in 1998.

Episcopal Bishops'Pastoral Letter on Immigration
The House of Episcopal Bishops, concluding its Sept. 16-21 fall gathering in Phoenix, Arizona, has issued a pastoral letter and a theological resource on immigration.
 Download the Pastoral Letter
 Download the Theological Resource
The bishops considered immigration, evangelism and mission amid changing cultural contexts during a regular rhythm of Bible study, theological reflection and worship. Prior to the bishops' regularly scheduled meeting, about 40 bishops, spouses and partners participated in a Sept. 13-15 visit to Douglas, Arizona, and Sonora, Mexico, to acquaint themselves with the way immigration law impacts people on both sides of the border. To the right, Bishops of the Episcopal Church participate Sept. 14 in the Healing our Borders vigil commemorating those who have lost their lives crossing the border in Cochise County Arizona since 1994.
Below is an excerpt from the beginning of the Pastoral Letter:
Dear People of God, Throughout our meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, we have reflected on the immigration crisis facing our host state, the United States, and all nations globally. A number of us visited the United States-Mexico border and saw first hand the many troubling and complex issues that face migrants, immigrants, the border patrol, local ranchers, and Christian communities seeking to minister to all of these groups. We are also mindful that similar border issues confront other nations represented in The Episcopal Church, especially countries in Europe, the Dominican Republic and Haiti, and Colombia and Ecuador. Holy Scripture teaches us that all human beings are made in the image of God, and that Jesus Christ gave his life for all people. Furthermore, both the Old and New Testaments declare the importance of hospitality to resident alien and strangers, a hospitality that rests on our common humanity. All human beings are therefore deserving of dignity and respect, as we affirm in our Baptismal Covenant (Book of Common Prayer, p.305). So our gracious welcome of immigrants, documented or undocumented, is a reflection of God's grace poured out on us and on all.
