of Capturing Change"
Debut at OUTER BANKS HISTORY CENTER March
5th.
An
opening reception will be held Friday March 5, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The event is
free and open to the public.
John Logue, Editor of Southern Living Magazine, spoke of Bruce in his column Books in Review.

camera is a philosophy, a veritable vehicle of photography... His
pictures are worth 20,000 words."
Roberts has written or had his photographs
published in more than 50 books, most recently "Just Yesterday: North Carolina
People and Places" (North Carolina Office of Archives and History, 2008). You can read more about the photo on the left which was taken in the mid-1960's. This exhibit made possible though generous support from
the Frank Stick Memorial Fund of the Outer Banks Community Foundation and Our
State magazine.
The Outer Banks History Center Gallery is located in Manteo at Roanoke Island Festival Park. For additional information call 252-473-2655.

Take a Milk and Cookie Break with Girl Scouts!
Girl Scouts are in the final weeks of the Girl Scout Cookie
Program and are working hard to meet
their goals. This year, the girls have taken the Girl Scout Cookie Program to a
new level in hopes of raising enough funds to keep Girl Scouting programs alive
and well in our area. In addition to tradition door-to-door order
taking and cookie booths which are going on now, the girls are also approaching
local businesses in hopes of hosting a Milk and Cookie Break. During a
Milk and Cookie Break, an employer purchases a few boxes of Girl Scout cookies
from a local troop who will, in turn, come to the place of business to serve
the cookies and sell addition boxes. It's a great way for
local businesses to show appreciation for
their employees and support the Girl
Scouts at the same time. Milk and Cookie Breaks work
well at business luncheons and meetings (preferably held in the late afternoon
to accommodate school schedules.) They can also be great for group and organization
meetings. The girls are ready and eager to visit you!
Businesses can also show their support
for Girl Scouts by participating in
the Cookies from Home program. Through the Cookies from Home
program businesses can purchase cases of cookies to be sent directly to the
military serving overseas or
recovering in VA hospitals. Last year the Bank of Currituck and several
other local businesses were generous enough to support
the military and the Girl Scouts by purchasing cases through this program.
If your business is interested in either opportunity please call 1-800-77SCOUT or visit www.gsccc.org.
