Mr. Bruce Davis took tons of photos at the dress rehearsals!!  He's been taking our professional photos since the studio began in 1988!  The large photos you see hanging around the studio and most of the concert photos were taken by Mr. Davis.

In order to place an order, please go to

www.davis-studio.net

and follow any of the links that say "Denton Dance Conservatory," scroll down to "Recital 2012" and when prompted enter "lisa" as the username and password.  The photos appear in the order they were taken, and although it takes time to look through them, it's completely worth it!!

Miss Jasmine taking a well-deserved break!!!
Jasmine grad 2012

After teaching at DDC since she was 14 years old, our own Miss Jasmine Jaramillo is "taking a break" this year from regular teaching.  Jasmine just graduated from TWU with a degree in History, and has been working two jobs for the last eight years, and three jobs last year, dancing in 2 dance companies, while putting herself thru school and a full-time academic schedule!!!  (I hope my pride shows thru!) Last year in Austria, Miss Jasmine's long time boyfriend, Chris, proposed to her, and they plan to marry sometime in 2013. (Please stay tuned for info on a DDC sponsored wedding shower for Jasmine:)

Miss Jasmine has been a wonderful influence on many of our DDC students and she will be greatly missed!  She has, however, agreed to help with "A Gift for Emma," choreograph for our Collage Denton Dance Festival in the spring, and substitute once in awhile, so don't be surprised to see her around!

Congrats, Miss Jasmine, on your many accomplishments, and we all hope you can come back after your "break!"

THANK YOU MR. KINZIE!
Allan Kinzie
After 7 years teaching ballet to Ballet VI & VII, Mr. Allan Kinzie is making a change.
Mr. Allan Kinzie has been teaching the Level VI and VII ballet classes on Mondays for the past 7 years.  Sadly for us, he cannot continue his involvement weekly at DDC, but instead, will be doing workshops and master classes intermintently throughout the year, and setting choreography on DCCB once in awhile.

DDC is quite thankful that Mr. Kinzie has been able to fit us into his busy schedule the past few years!  As with most dancers, Mr. Kinzie is making some changes to his schedule so that he can continue to teach, coach, and choreograph for many years to come!

THANK YOU, ALLAN, FOR SHARING YOUR EXQUISITE ATTENTION TO DETAIL, YOUR VAST KNOWLEDGE OF CLASSICAL BALLET, AND YOUR HILARIOUSLY DRY SENSE OF HUMOR!!!

We do look forward to Mr. Kinzie's classes in our upcoming Back-to-School Intensive! (see article above)

New Faculty at DDC!!!
Darrell Cleveland hdshot

Darrell Cleveland was born in Jacksonville, Fl.  He graduated from Morehouse College in 1994 with a BA in business administration.  Mr. Cleveland's professional training started with Harrison Dance Company and he later became a principal dancer for the Dallas Black Dance Theater.  His choreography credits include work for Dallas Summer Musicals,  The Inaugural Brinker International Lecture Series, Texas Lottery commercials, Lyric Stage productions and Regional Dance America Conference. As a Master Teacher, Darrell has taught at festivals and conferences, and his outreach work includes going into the Dallas ISD school system and introducing disadvantaged children to the world of dance.  Mr. Cleveland danced professionally with Top 10 recording artists Toni Braxton and En Vogue before spending eight  seasons dancing with Dallas Black Dance Theatre.  Now one of Dallas' busiest jazz and contemporary instructors and choreographers, Darrell was awarded "Best Choreographer" at the 2010 PULSE Convention Southwest Region.  DDC is thrilled to have Mr. Cleveland teaching the Contemporary Level VII classes this year!!!

  Yulia

Yulia Ilina comes to us from the Kiev Ballet School in Kiev, Ukraine. After graduating with honors in 1999, Ms. Ilina danced as a soloist with the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre under Boris Eifmann, and then the St. Petersburg State Ballet Theatre under L. Jacobson. In 2010, Ms. Ilina was awarded a diploma of recognition from the St. Petersburg Committee of Culture for the preservation of the best traditions and creative contribution to the development of Russian ballet. She has danced leading roles in "Giselle," "Swan Lake," "Carmen," "Romeo and Juliet," "The Nutcracker," and other more contemporary works.

Throughout her dance career, Ms. Ilina danced extensively touring Europe, the United States, Canada, South America, and Asia. Her willingness to apply her classical ballet skills to contemporary ballet earned her invitations to work with such modern choreographers as Vladimir Adiamov and Larisa Ivanova.

DDC is so excited that Yulia will be able to teach our Ballet Levels VI and VII on Thursdays through November! Ms. Ilina then returns to Russia to finish her graduate studies in Theatre Administration at the St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy.
  Julia Brown hdshot 2012
Julia Brown comes to DDC from Richardson, Tx to attend UNT as a Sophomore.  The last three years she has been a faculty member of the Sway Dance Center Studio in Richardson, Texas.  Her areas of expertise in Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Hip Hop have made her not only a versatile instructor but has allowed her vibrant personality to shine. Julia has choreographed Richardson High school programs such as the Eagle Guards, Eaglette Drill Team, and RHS Cheerleaders. Along with her technical talents, Julia has performed in various Company renditions of The Nutcracker, and danced with Destiny's Child at the Dallas Cowboys Halftime Show. She has attended the Atlanta Ballet Summer Intensives, The Radio City Music Hall Rockette's Summer Intensive and is a 2009 scholarship recipient for THE PULSE on Tour and Celebrity Dance Competition's Summer Scholarship winner to the Brock Center of Performing Arts, California. Julia has studied under such Masters as Doug Caldwell, Mike Minery, Napolean and Tabitha Dmou, Wade Robinson, Liz Imperio, and Desiree Robbins. Julia has a true knack for creativity and the ability to help growing dancers find inspiration and passion for the art of dance.  Miss Julia will be teaching ballet, tap, jazz and HipHop this year, and we're looking forward to adding her to our DDC family!

Returning DDC Faculty include Ms. Anne Black-Scalf, Miss Hannah Briggs, Miss Sami Neal (who has night classes every night but W/F:( and Ms. Lisa, of course!

Updates on Fees & Policies

In order to continue to offer the very best quality instruction to our dancers, and maintain the dance experience that our DDC families are accustomed to, it is necessary that we raise tuition by $5 across the board.  Whatever your tuition was last year, please add $5 to it.  We have also had to increase the costume fees for ballet, jazz & hip hop dancers, ages 11+, by $10.  Production Fees for the Recital and "A Gift for Emma" will stay the same as are Registration Fees.

Please understand that DDC is trying very hard to keep costs down for all of us!  Below is a link to the pdf of our Tuition & Fees flyer that includes all tuition, costume, & production fees.  We continue to value your support & trust in our business!
