PLEASE GET YOUR TRAVEL INSURANCE FOR AUSTRIA NOW!
Audrey Merolla is the travel agent that Young Tanzsommer uses.  (She is the one who came to our first Austria Meeting last year).  She has said that the prices are less expensive if everyone calls her individually, rather than the group rates.  She suggested that each of you contact her at  your earliest convenience by either emailing her at audreyadv@sbcglobal.net

or calling (972) 243-7969 to purchase your travel insurance.  Several of our parents have looked into travel insurance and agree that the company she uses is quite legitimate, in business for a long time, and covers just about everything you could think of.  If you decide to go with a different company, please make sure that they cover all the scenarios that this one does:)

YOU CAN PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE FOR THE TOUR ONLY, THE FLIGHT ONLY, OR BOTH.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ABBY & AMARA BRADETICH!!!!
TCU...Here they come!
Abby & Amara Bradetich have been our resident twin dancers for the past 8 years at DDC, and when they told me last year they wanted to audition for the TCU Dept of Contemporary & Classical Dance, I was cautiously optimistic!  (Not all of our dancers have been accepted to TCU, as their program is highly competitive!)  That's old news now, as the twins texted me on Thanksgiving morning to let me know the good news!  They were both also accepted to Slippery Rock University Dance Program in Pennsylvania(where Hannah Guidry is) and University of Texas at Austin!

We in the company and at the studio couldn't be more proud of these two extremely hard working young women, and we look forward to keeping them close, as Cowtown is only 30 miles away!!!
Dear DCCB Dancers & Parents,
DCCB 2010-11 Group Photo
Denton City Contemporary Ballet 2010-2011 Company!

I was asked by the Young Tanzsommer Staff to relay the following info to all of my dancers.  Please read it carefully:

We have had conversations with a couple of people that are thinking that their husbands, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and grandparents are going to be able to meet us somewhere along the way.  This is not a good thing, and we want to nip it in the bud before we get further down the road.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

First of all, our itinerary is at this point very fluid, and will be until shortly before we leave.  By that we mean that we are still tweaking and refining it, making it the best possible for our participants.  It will be impossible for us to release the itinerary even to our clients until sometime in the spring.  As you know from your checklist mailed to you in August, we will not send the final itinerary until late April, early May.

The second part of the answer is what is complicated.  After 16 years of existence, we have found that it does not work to anyone's advantage for someone to try to run alongside the Tanzsommer tour.  Mostly, it is nearly impossible to do so.  We rent the entire hotel(s) for our group.  We have a large groups this year!  Our meals are organized for the number that is touring with us.  Our busses are reserved and paid for by the number of persons that are on the tour.  Tickets are NOT available for the performances to the general public, and our group is allowed in before the crowd to take their seats.  It has historically been very frustrating for the people that are not part of our tour, because they do not get to spend much time with their friends and family that ARE part of the tour.  We are all very busy on the tour, and it is just simply more advantageous for everyone if all parties are working off the same agenda.

Thirdly, it is simply unfair for people to expect to participate in the tour without paying the same price as the rest of the clients.  We are more than happy to offer them a daily rate for the time that they going to be traveling along with us.  They will then be able to enjoy all of the amenities that the rest of the Young!Tanzsommer clients will already be experiencing.

The deadline for adding people is

FEBRUARY 15, 2011

.  Anyone that would like to join...we would love to have them!

Thank you for your help in this matter!

ATTENTION AUSTRIA ATTENDEES!

If you are not getting the emails from Young Tanzsommer, please check your spam box.  Please add Thom@youngtanzsommer.com to your contacts so that Thom's emails will go to your inbox.

I've received a list of those dancers who are not up to date with their payments.  If you have not yet paid $2000 (final payment of $500 due Feb. 15th, for a total of $2500 for the tour per person,) PLEASE DO SO ASAP!  Two people have just recently decided to join the tour, and have been given until April to pay it off, but everyone else needs to try to keep their payments up to date.  Young Tanzsommer is having to put deposits down on hotels and performance venues, and it's imperative that we all try to follow the payment schedule they've given us.

Please send payments to:
Young Tanzsommer Festival
14027 Memorial Dr. #423
Houston, TX  77079

ALSO, I just sent an email to all of our attendees last week to PLEASE EMAIL ME YOUR ITINERARY, AND YOUR PASSPORT #, ALONG W/ YOUR NAME AS IT APPEARS ON THE PP AND DATE OF BIRTH.  The Kempinski hotel needs this info, and for those of you flying with the group, the travel agent needs this too.  The price per person for the Kempinski stay on June 23rd will be around $100 each (3 people per room).  For those of you traveling with the group, we will be staying at the Novatel on the nite of July 4th, at a rate of  apprx. $75 each (two people per room).  I HAVE ASSIGNED ROOM LISTS FOR EACH LEG OF OUR TRAVEL and will post them after I receive the passport #s, DOB, Itinerary, and name as appears on pp.  A few changes may be allowed, but for the most part, I have dancers whose parents are on the tour, rooming with their parent, spouses rooming together, etc.  At the Kempinski, we have 3/room and that gets a little more difficult.  I have reserved 12 rooms for our group on June 23rd--that should take care of all 36 people in our group.

We will be having a meeting after the Collage Dance Festival sometime in April.  Thank you all--I'm getting so excited!!!
DCCB Scholarship for Summer Study Transferred to the Dance Council Scholarship Program!
As many of you know, the Denton City Contemporary Ballet has offered a $500 scholarship for summer study for the past two years.  Our first scholarship winner, Miss Sophia Jacobs, was able to use the DCCB Scholarship Funds to help her attend the Kaatsban Ballet Program in New York!  Our 2010 scholarship winner, Sidney Durmick, was able to use her scholarship to attend Burklyn Ballet Theatre in Vermont.

In order to streamline the audition process and open the door to the Dance Council of North Texas for our dancers, as well as expand our area of opportunity, DCCB decided last spring to make available this scholarship with others through the Dance Council of North Texas.  All auditions are done by video, all applicants must be between the ages of 13-19 and members of the DCNT.  For more info, please click on the links below!  We encourage all who can to apply, even as "practice" for next time!
