WHICH CLASS SHOULD I SELECT FOR MY CHILD??

To Parents of All Dancers,

Denton Dance Conservatory, Ms. Lisa, and your instructors would like to recognize your dancer's accomplishments in movement and maturity during the past year. Your dancer has progressed in her understanding of movement: technique, floor patterns, and how dance relates and compliments music. As parents, we hope you are also very proud of your dancer's maturity: listening, following directions, and respecting her peers are skills that can only be developed when a child is doing something that she already loves to do! Here is a helpful guide for you to assess your dancer's needs for another year.
What Dance Styles Can I Add to My Dancer's Education?
·          TAP (ages 4 and up): Tap uniquely connects to music, as the child's feet become a primary instrument. Even the steps in tap relate to percussive and musical terminology! You will begin to hear the difference between "noise" and "sound" as their awareness to music grows.
·          JAZZ (ages 6 and up): Similar to ballet, jazz technique will introduce body isolations, flexibility, and strengthening exercises. While they build upon ballet placement, moving sharp and fast become key components to their development as jazz dancers.
·          MODERN (ages 9 and up): Modern is expressive, comical, and beautiful. In A Gift For Emma, the different facets of modern are performed by Tiny Elves, Swingin' Elves, Butterflies, and the Artic Winds.
·          PRE-POINTE/POINTE (by invitation only): Pre-Pointe prepares dancers for pointe shoes by accessing their readiness and commitment to ballet. Instructors look specifically at each dancer's bone development and growth patterns in order to advise and counsel the parents and dancer. To avoid later injury and damage to the dancer's feet, Denton Dance Conservatory examines the whole body of the dancer to assess each dancer and determine when they are ready.
What Are My Scheduling Options?
Planning for a class's day and time can be a challenging process and we ask for your patience. There are many factors to consider, such as school times and locations, available studios, available instructors, and families with multiple dancers, time work ends, when school is out, etc.. However, we can offer some general information regarding classes. It is advised to Pre-Register your student to guarantee the most convenient day and time for your dancer's schedule.

A copy of our proposed schedule  for the Fall is available for you to look at on the bulletin board.
It will also soon be available at our updated website on line.

Thank you for sharing your child with us at Denton Dance Conservatory! The faculty and staff look forward to watching each child grow up into a beautiful dancer and artist.      --Miss Lisa--
