DANCECAMP 2008 & INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS A SUCCESS!
|
Miss Jasmine Jaramillo
and Miss Allyson Barnett, Miss Tori Helfrich,
and Miss Sidney Durmick
were Miss Lisa's
assistants and did a wonderful job in helping to
create a nurturing, yet professional, atmosphere for
the dancers!
Ms. Lesley Snelson-Figueroa taught a one week
REPERTORY WORKSHOP which included
choreography that will be performed next spring. As
usual, Miss Lesley was outstanding in bringing her
energy, focus and demanding style to the dancers!
How lucky we are to be able to have Miss Lesley teach
in the summers!
Several students were able to take advantage of our 3-
Day Ballet Intensive! Dancers learned the Lilac
Variation from the ballet Sleeping Beauty, they learned
how to sew their pointe shoes, they all received a
complimentary Stage Makeup Kit (valued at $35), we
talked hair, nutrition, stretching, and career plans, just
to name a few things! The dancers were serious,
sweet, and learned quite a great deal, and we plan to
have our Intensive again next summer. To all of those
who participated in this summer's DDC classes,
EXCELLENT WORK!!!

Calling all Denton Youth City Ballet and Denton City

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE GOES ON TOUR!!
|
|
|
|
CONGRATULATIONS, COMFORT!
|
As you all know, our hip hop teacher, Comfort Fedoke
has been a finalist on "So You Think You Can Dance!"
for the past several weeks. She got right up next to the
top ten, was dismissed, and THEN...called back to
replace an injured dancer for the Top Ten, then made
it to the TOP EIGHT DANCERS, and this dismissed
again! Whew!!! What a ride indeed!!! She did a great
job and represented Denton, DDC and the Dallas/Ft
Worth dance community showing off her talent, her
skills, personality and style! We are all so very proud
of her!
Before the drama with the call back, etc. the
SYTYCD "Powers that Be" invited Comfort to go on
tour anyway, so they'll have 11 dancers on tour this
fall. How exciting for her and sad for us
since she obviously won't be returning to teach here.
HOWEVER, COMFORT HAS AGREED TO TEACH A
COMMUNITY MASTER CLASS FOR US AS SOON AS
SHE GETS BACK--STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO!!!
But we all wish her the best and know that her hip hop
numbers are going to bring down the house!! With
pride and best wishes from all of us at DDC, GO
COMFORT!!!
